By Request, ‘Ten Thousand Reasons’

Requested by “Someone”–for no reason I know of, WordPress is making us all anonymous–Ten Thousand Reasons, by Matt Redman. This is the first time I’ve heard it.

  1. Offhand, I can name 8. And I have been to four of them. I live on the southernmost island, which is the second largest, Mindanao.

The Philippines was long celebrated as an archipelago of 7,107 islands, but recently has officially updated its count to about 7,641 islands. With only 2,000 or so inhabited. Moreover, there are more than 5,000 islands that are yet to be officially named. Furthermore, another question you might need to know when asking about the number of islands, is that at High tide or low tide?

    1. After having been seized by the Philistines, David wrote the following in Psalm 56:8.

“ You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.”

As humans, we can’t solve all of the problems of a fallen world, but our God knows what sorrows we have faced, and will make it right, in the end.

  2. There is a program on Google Maps, if you input the city and address, you can view it. It’s amazing, you can go forward, backwards, look at either side of the street (even look at the side of each house or building), zoom in or out, and take a visual stroll down most streets.

I found my street and house in Milwaukee when I live there, and even the town where I now abide. All the major streets in town and leading out, you could travel down, and stop and look at both sides of the road. The road in front of my apartment building, is nothing more then a gravel path, so it wasn’t available for viewing. But from the paved road a short distance away, you can see the top of my building.

    1. Wanna borrow my Time Machine, Lee?

I miss Denver, but I miss the Denver that existed in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s. I guess we all have to deal with all four dimensions. Now I’m depressed, but I’ll listen to a 5th Dimension record, to cheer myself up. 🙂

    2. The 5th a dimension made a mess of your town? 🙂

Likewise for Denver, it’s not even pleasant to visit, these days, and I actually avoid going through the place I once loved. It used to be a paradise of mostly mild weather and natural beauty. Now it’s just a landlocked version of LA, complete with the crime, exorbitant prices and traffic problems.

Traffic problems? I’ve sat in traffic jams on The 5, in LA at 10 PM. There was a Ferrari in the next lane, so at least I was in wealthy company. 🙂 The last time I had an overnight visit to Denver, I was in a traffic jam in rural Boulder County, in the middle of the afternoon, and that night someone started pounding on the door of my morel room at 2 AM. It’s become a hellhole.

    3. Yes brother, life is hard, but not all of it. At times it’s filled with pain and grief, but not all the time. At least that is true for me. And now, for you and Patty life is filled with pain, grief, and angst. Nevertheless, that will all be over someday, and we all pray it will be soon.

Strange, I am now in new territory, something I never thought about before. I now spend time each week with a “Lady friend” a grandmother, (four years younger) than me. Moreover, there is an eight-month-old baby girl, that didn’t have a name, until I gave her one, that lives with her (the mother wanted to abort her), that is a new love in my life. She has the sweetest temperament, and the biggest smile for me, each time I see her. What a blessing they both are.

Yes, life has been very hard at times in my life, but at least for now, there is joy. Will it last? Truly, only God knows, but because he lives, we can all face the future with hope. Maybe not in this lifetime, but for all eternity.

I also pray for all those on this blog that have asked for prayer, for sicknesses and other needs. I pray that God would fill all your lives with hope and blessings. And that all, would come to trust the Lord, through it seems the sky has fallen, and you have been forgotten by the Lord. He hasn’t forgotten, nor disregarded, nor is neglecting you. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
