How I Got Through Today–I Don’t Know

Last night was one of the worst nights of my life for sleep.

I went to bed at my normal time–no problem there.

Then I woke up at one o’clock.   Fell back to sleep, then woke up at two o’clock.  Every hour on the hour I would wake up.  This went on until 5 AM and I gave up and got up.  It was close enough to my normal getting-up time anyhow.  Needless to say, I was totally drained all day.

I only have 2 cups of coffee per day.  My first cup is 3/4 regular and 1/4 decaf.  The second cup which I start around noon and finish around 4 is all decaf.  I have even given up chocolate as it disturbs my sleep.  Try waking up around 3AM  standing up beside your bed.  That little episode was triggered by chocolate.  No more Lindt truffles for this gal. I’ve never had this problem before, and I know that part of the problem is not enough exercise.  I have to work out some sort of schedule so I can get that in.  Right now my life is still in flux.  So many changes have taken place in less than a year that I’m having difficulty “finding my feet”  so to speak.  I am very busy and doing a lot of stuff, but I know regular exercise would make a big difference.

Aside from that, all is as OK .

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

Busy Day

Today I spent quite a bit of time looking up people I need to contact.

That takes more time than you think it would.

Tomorrow I have a few errands to run, and I know that will take up more time than you think it would

There is a guy outside mowing the lawn next door and the mower sounds like a very large jet plane taking off.  Does it really have to be that loud?  At least it’s not a leaf-blower.

Somehow although it’s daylight saving time and the days appear to be longer, they are going faster.  Try to figure that one.

My bank has really moved with the times and it’s great.  Transfer funds from savings to checking and that’s that.  No waiting till the close of business or anything.  I don’t think I could function at all without modern technology.  How quickly we become dependent on it.

Another thing I have become dependent on is grocery deliveries.  They are really a blessing.  Otherwise I am trying to carry bags, manipulate my cane (which is temporary–but needed right now–) plus keys, etc.

At least I feel like I justified my existence today.

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

Totally Wiped Out Today

This morning, while it was sunny and nice, I managed to get out to the store, but that was it.

I’m wondering if I could be fighting off one of the new viruses floating around.  I’m sure that in some corner of the world they are busily mutating existing viruses to create new ones. (So we can have a vaccine for the new ones, too).

I intend to have an early supper and go to bed.  I have been fighting sleep all day, which is not typical for me.

I haven’t really checked on the news today, either.

Let’s hope tomorrow is better.

God bless everybody.

PS Something Good Happened

Today Was An Absolute Disaster

Today started out with me oversleeping.  I get up at an insanely early time, because I go to bed very early.  Never do I oversleep.  I did this morning and that should have been a clue that the day was not going to be a very good one.

To start with, I post a hymn first thing in the morning.  Today I posted the hymn but forgot to put on the title.  I went back in and posted the title.  A little while later I saw I had a typo and had misspelled glory.  Went back in and fixed that.

Then I had one of those days where every other post I tried to share would not grant permission.  That is so totally frustrating.  I honestly don’t know why they have a share button if they don’t want to share.

I decided to have a very simple day.  No challenges and nothing that would require me handling anything sharp.

I was very glad to see the Southern Poverty Liars Center get their comeuppance.  It is well deserved and long overdue.

Most of the news space was taken up by coverage of the shooting at the correspondent’s  dinner.  It was a lot of talking, with very little said.  I did read the shooters “manifesto” in which he accused President Trump of every crime but the Lindbergh kidnapping.  That was a giant waste of time.

Tomorrow has got to be better.

At least I hope so.

God bless everybody.

Another day–another shooting?

I’ve spent a lot of time today trying to find out what I can about the shooter at the correspondent’s event last night in Washington.   You do have to wade through a lot of inanities–like  was the president the target?  No, I’m sure he was there to shoot one of the waiters.

At any rate so far, they know that he is a tutor at a teaching company.  I can hear Lee saying “that alone could have driven him over the edge”.

Can’t really find any information yet.  He came from California.   Again hearing Lee say “that figures”.

It’s just so awful that there is so much of this.  Any ying yang with a grudge feels they have a perfect right to shoot the president.

This country is losing its collective mind.

We, as a nation, better pray and pray hard.

God bless everybody.

Mission Accomplished (sort of)

Today I actually managed to do a couple of things that had been on my “to do” list for awhile.  Small things, the kind that because they are so easy, and so simple, that you just keep bumping them.  And they never get done.

It was gray and rainy all day, but I didn’t mind.  We truly need the rain–there have been a lot of wild fires here in the east, but none in New Jersey as yet.  I remember a few years ago when there were these horrible wildfires in Canada and the sky here was actually orange for about three days.  It was really creepy.

Well that’s it for now.

See you tomorrow.,

God bless everybody.

What I’ve learned about blogging..so far

I decided to continue this blog after Lee’s death, because good commentary, like a good book, can be read more than once.

That being said, I had to learn fast.  WordPress is a good platform–you don’t need special skills, it is easy to learn, and very user friendly.

Reposting of Lee’s work is no problem.

Posting other content, however, does take some work.

For example:  YOU MUST WATCH ALL VIDEO CONTENT THROUGH TIL THE END.    This I learned right at the beginning.  I found that some people cannot express joy or astonishment except by dropping a load of F bombs.  That would not do at all.  Also on some very reputable sites, they will repeat a story with a new headline and description and when you get into it, you realize you have covered this same story before.

DON’T ALWAYS TRUST THE HEADLINE.  Sometimes a headline will have very little bearing on the story.

MAKE SURE ALL THE LINKS STILL WORK.  I will just delete them if they are no longer working and are not really critical to the content.

Another pet peeve I have is when I watch a story, find it appropriate and/or entertaining, hit the share button and when I get over to my site, am informed that I can’t share it.  Why then, pray tell, do you have a freakin’ share button.  If it can’t be shared, don’t have a share button.  That is a mystery for the philosophers, I guess.

Had a good day today, hope you all did as well.

See you tomorrow

God bless everybody.

A Nice Spring Day

Today was a lovely spring day.  Warm and sunny, not windy at all.

Aside from doing the normal stuff today (no major projects) I mostly rested on my laurels –earned yesterday by my victory over unscrupulous medical billers–.  That really lifted my spirits.  My spirits can always use a little lifting.

Had a good long talk with my daughter today and that was fun.

I will have to tackle 3 jobs tomorrow, but it shouldn’t  be a problem.

That’s about it for today.

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

Hooray for Medicare

I have been waging a quiet war with one of Lee’s medical providers.

At the end of January, I received a bill from a lab for a lot of very expensive blood and tissue tests.  I was really annoyed, because I had paid off all of Lee’s medical bills and thought I was done.  I put the bill aside.  The total was about $2300.  About a week later I received a bill from them for the same tests, but it was reduced to about $1850.00.  I then analyzed the bill and checked the dates of service.   All of these tests were done about one or two days before he went into hospice.  We had known he was going into hospice and so did everyone at the hospital.  Now I was really annoyed.  I called the company and talked to someone with a very thick accent who sounded like she was talking from a cigar box at the bottom of the sea.  I asked her why these elaborate and costly tests were done on a patient who was going into hospice.  She did not know (of course), but told me not to pay the bill because it was still being “worked on”.  After getting a reference number for the phone call (so we both would have a record of my call) and her assurance that I would not be put in for collection, I let it go.

Today I got an explanation of benefits from Medicare and the bottom line is I owe the lab $136.02!  What if I had paid the first bill?  I know for sure that I would never have seen that money.

Thank you Medicare.

I am not a big fan of large government bureaucracies, but this is not the first time I have had a good experience with both Medicare and Social Security.

I guess some of us old dogs can learn new tricks (or change our minds about some things.)

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.,

Patty
