Today’s wrap up

I’ve started solving the problems and feel a lot better about them.

Have a call in to Adam about the computer.

When it is sunny again, my neighbor is going to see about the  A/C problem.  I’ve been thinking about that and although I have had the car for about  20 years, I don’t think that they ever had to add freon.  Perhaps it is time for that.  We’ll see.

Picked up my prescription today.

My chili is cooking and I am now going to watch a little TV before supper.

Things will get straightened out, one way or another.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

So much going on right now

Sorry if I didn’t post as much today as I usually do.

There is so much going on right now I want to walk into a cornfield and scream at the top of my lungs.

The computer (which I absolutely cannot be without).  It has been acting up and last night it gave me one of those blue-screen shutdowns after which it forgot absolutely everything.  I mean, passwords that I had used for years, my email, you name it–everything.  It took me forever to get a semblance of what I had.  Made an appointment with Adam.

The car–OK, I will admit this car is the first car of mine that ever had air conditioning. I never had it before. If necessary, I will get back to doing without it.  I don’t drive that much anymore and I can time my drives for the cooler part of the day.  It’s not like I have a daily commute to work or anything like that.  Will call the shop tomorrow and see when they can see me.

Spent a lot of time today proving to various businesses and institutions that I really am who I say I am.  I had about a jillion codes to respond to, and I find that particularly irritating.

As you can see, I am not in the happiest frame of mind–but sometimes it is nice to think that maybe you have a small semblance of control over your life.

Well, that’s off my chest.

I feel better already.  The fret mode switch has turned off.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Today? Meh.

I spent most of today getting in my own way.

Had a great deal of trouble accomplishing anything.

Of course the weather didn’t help.  I can hear some of you groaning “Oh, she’s on about the weather again”, but hear me out.  It went up to 80 today.  Two days ago I was wearing my down puffer coat.  It’s kind of hard on the ole body (at least my ole body) to deal with.

Then, when I went to the store, I discovered my cars a/c didn’t work.  The blower is working–it blows like a son-of-a-gun-but it blows hot air.  Please, let it just be a fuse.

Other than that, all is OK.

Tomorrow I have 2 things that I must accomplish.

Anything over that is a bonus.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Today

Today I learned a very simple and basic lesson.

You can’t do two things at once.  If you try, both endeavors will suffer.

Do not try  to trim your hair while listening to an audiobook and taking notes.  Anybody should be able to see that is not a really smart idea.

Duh.

It seems so simple and logical–but why do we always try to do more than one thing at a time?   That’s one for the philosophers.

Tomorrow is bound to be better, although today was not a bad day at all.  The predicted rain never showed up and that’s always good.   They are predicting rain for the next few days.

That’s about it for now.

See you tomorrow.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Another Busy One

I spent some time today listening to Mark Rushdoony’s book about his father. It is a truly engrossing read.  I have to call Adam tomorrow, because the disk player has started acting up again. I also turned the computer off accidentally when I was fiddling with the disk, and for a few moments I thought my computer had died.  That was a real old heart-stopper.  I had visions of everything being lost.  I can only describe how I felt as a bleak panic (if there is such a thing).

Other than that, all is OK.

I already have a bunch of things stacked up for tomorrow.

But, busy is good.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

I Really Missed Lee Today

Today I got  really involved with the story about the dogs of skid row in Los Angeles.  This story is evidently well-known and nobody in authority is acting on it.  The animal rescue groupls are trying their best, but the city authorities are doing just about zip.  It is a public disgrace.

Lee could have covered that story standing on his ear.  He was a marvelous reporter and newsman.  He would have gotten to the bottom of it by Monday, or at least found out enough about what was going on to set up a series of articles.

Being as today is Saturday, all public offices in LA are closed, but he would have done primary digging at first and worked his way up.  By Monday he would have been on the phone to Mayor Bass’s office to at least hear the cover story they have prepared.

The raid on that woman’s property was totally illegal.  They never showed her any kind of paper, or summons, or document.  They also took her cell phone.  Gestapo, anyone?

I do intend to cover this more, but it will take me a lot longer to do so than it would have taken him.

Somehow, there is a money trail waiting to be uncovered.  I wonder if Mayor Bass is around or if she is on another one of her many trips to Cuba.

I am really, really tired right now.

Pray for our troops.

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

The Dogs of Skid Row

Busy Again Today

Today’s posts may seem extra focused on animals, but here’s what happened.

I did my usual posting, but then I spotted a story about a huge animal hoarding (possibly–don’t know all the facts yet) situation in California.  Allegedly hundreds of cats and dogs were found in very poor condition on a property in California.  The woman who owns the property sounds like she might have meant well at the beginning, but was clearly overwhelmed.  And it is an overwhelming kind of situation.  There are just so many homeless, mistreated and neglected animals out there that you need a staff and lots of support people and helpers if you intend to do that kind of work. They are usually volunteers.

My friend in Florida knows a woman there who started out very small, but with perseverance now has a tax exempt corporation.  Her biggest thing is finding lost dogs.  Specializing in one aspect of animal welfare is best, also.  You at least stand a chance of being able to accomplish something.  She does work with the locale Humane Society, but usually does the dog finding on her own.  She is a wizard at it.

I would love to adopt a pet, but right now it is not a doable thing.

I pretty much covered the story, but I’m sure more information will be available as time passes.

See you tomorrow.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Just What I Didn’t Need– A Little Computer Excitement

Today was moving along quite well.

Then, right after lunch, something went radically wrong with my computer.  I had just selected some content that I wanted to post to the blog and when I went over to WordPress to post it–up came the Captcha thingumabob where you get a picture of distorted letters that you have to decipher??!!  To prove you are a human being. No way does this belong on the WordPress platform.  I also saw that I had been disconnected from my AOL email account.  I even put a call in to Jill at Chalcedon (she is a WordPress expert).  After about 25 minutes of total stress I was able to get into my AOL account, and the other problem resolved itself.  I have not the foggiest idea of what happened.  That was one hell of an epic glitch.  Meteor showers?  A server somewhere going mad? Cosmic rays? Solar ejecta?  Your guess is as good as mine.

We are so very dependent on these devices.  When they do not function, it is absolute chaos.  I did call Chalcedon back and tell them the problem was resolved.

But I don’t know why or how, really.

Pray for our troops.  I believe the 82nd Airborne are being sent to the middle east in a non combat capacity.

God bless everybody.

Does Anybody Else Have This Issue?

First, today was good.  My neighbor fixed my rear brake light (which would have earned me a big, fat ticket if not repaired) and the day was sunny and bright.

My hellebore, tired of waiting for me, basically pruned itself and looks great.  Just needs a little cutting away of the dead leaves.

Here’s the issue I am talking about in the title of this post.

Ever since I was in high school (when the earth was cooling) I have had this annoying problem.  About a half hour after lunch, I get really sleepy.  I mean really sleepy.  When I was working, I would often close my office door and snatch a quick nap.  Sometimes that helped, sometimes not.  If I don’t get the opportunity to sleep (which I try to  avoid doing so as to not mess up my night’s sleep) it will lift by itself.  Around 3:30 I start to wake up again.  By 4:00 I am back to normal.

Needless to say, this takes a piece out of my day that I would rather not lose.  I just live with it. During this time, I would absolutely not drive–no way–.  Nor would I attempt anything that needed mental acuity.  I might even avoid walking as stumbling on concrete could be bad.

Like I said, I have lived with this for so long, you’d think I’d be used to it by now.  It’s just so darned frustrating.  What I eat is really good and I don’t eat a large lunch at all.

Go figure.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.
