Does Anybody Else Have This Issue?

First, today was good.  My neighbor fixed my rear brake light (which would have earned me a big, fat ticket if not repaired) and the day was sunny and bright.

My hellebore, tired of waiting for me, basically pruned itself and looks great.  Just needs a little cutting away of the dead leaves.

Here’s the issue I am talking about in the title of this post.

Ever since I was in high school (when the earth was cooling) I have had this annoying problem.  About a half hour after lunch, I get really sleepy.  I mean really sleepy.  When I was working, I would often close my office door and snatch a quick nap.  Sometimes that helped, sometimes not.  If I don’t get the opportunity to sleep (which I try to  avoid doing so as to not mess up my night’s sleep) it will lift by itself.  Around 3:30 I start to wake up again.  By 4:00 I am back to normal.

Needless to say, this takes a piece out of my day that I would rather not lose.  I just live with it. During this time, I would absolutely not drive–no way–.  Nor would I attempt anything that needed mental acuity.  I might even avoid walking as stumbling on concrete could be bad.

Like I said, I have lived with this for so long, you’d think I’d be used to it by now.  It’s just so darned frustrating.  What I eat is really good and I don’t eat a large lunch at all.

Go figure.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Supposed to be sunny tomorrow?

We’ll see about that.  It was gray and dark all day and it has gotten quite cold again.

Managed to do one of the two things that I wanted to do today.

Better than none.

Just got interrupted by one of those scam calls.  They come in a variety of forms–there’s one where a rather chirpy female voice says Hi there!  Another one is a rather strident female voice that says “Hello?  Hello?”.  There is a rather gushy one that wants to know if I know about all the new Medicare benefits.  They have managed to eliminate the tell-tale boop sound that gave away the presence of their robo-caller. And you never hear anyone with an accent anymore.  Nice try, guys–but you still get hung up on, without me saying one word.  It is annoying, because it takes you away from what you are attempting to do.  I know, I know if I had a fancier, newer phone it would show “spam risk” and I wouldn’t have to answer.  But I would still have to walk the length of the apartment to see the “spam risk” message, so it’s not that much of a difference.

I guess I am a Luddite.

See you tomorrow.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

My Humblest Apologies

Sorry for not posting as much today, but I was crazy-busy all day.  I thought I would get more done, but tasks kept expanding and taking up more time than I thought they would.

Needless to say, a lot got done and there are just two major things for tomorrow.  If I get them done, I will proceed at a slightly less frantic pace.

This new keyboard is marvelous.  Silent and so clean.  Absolutely crumb-less.  I did have a hard time finding the dongle, as Logitech hid it very carefully.  Right on the box.  If it had teeth, it could have bitten me, as my Grandma used to say.

Still having a problem with the cd player, but I can call Adam tomorrow.  I ran the cleaning disc today, but didn’t have time to test it out.

If I sound a bit disjointed, it’s because I did a lot and am a little tired.

That’s about it for now.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Busy Today

Today the weather was absolutely lovely.  A clear blue sky, not cold or windy.

Returned to Mark Rushdoony’s book again today, but my disc player was acting up.  I will have to contact Adam, my computer wizard, tomorrow and he can see what’s up.  Also one of my virus protection programs seems to be fighting with the automatic backup.  It is seeing it as some sort of nasty intruder.  He’ll have to check that out as well.  Fortunately, he has access so it won’t be too bad.

Nothing major going on today, other than I received a new Medicare card in the mail which I have to start using on April 14.  I don’t really know why, but I do know Medicare will issue a new card if there is any oddball activity on your account.  One of those arcane governmental mysteries.

Other than that, all is OK.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Started Reading a Terrific Book

Today, contrary to predictions, the weather was sunny and warm (without wind gusts), so that made the day good, right from the start.

Today (after a one half hour battle with my computer) I took a really deep dive into Mark Rushdoony’s book about his father.  What can I say?  I spent several hours completely engrossed.  I will do a review of the book when I finish it.

For those of you who do not know about Dr. Rushdoony, he was not only  one of the leading voices for the home schooling movement, but also the founder of The Chalcedon Foundation (Lee’s employer).  He was also very active in so many other aspects of Christian life and education that they are too numerous to mention here and now.  I’m sure there are many other aspects of his life and work that I will find as I read more.

I will do a complete review of the book when I finish reading it.

I can’t wait to get back to it.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Mission Accomplished

I just had one thing that I wanted to accomplish today and it got done.

Sensei came over today and picked up the sword.  We had a really nice chat.  I wish he could have stayed longer.  Hopefully, he will find a buyer soon.  I can’t say enough what a load that is off my mind.  Not just that it is getting passed on, but that it is in responsible hands.  I was really worried about that.

Other than that, not much news.

I am closing now because my keyboard has decided that the space bar should stop functioning unless it is banged hard, twice.  There are crumbs in there, and it should be replaced anyway.

See you tomorrow.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

A Much, Much Better Day

Fortunately, the tornado never materialized last night, but we did have some wild wind.  No thunderstorms, but very high winds.

Today was sunny, bright and still very windy (and a lot colder than it has been).  No problem, however as the sunshine makes all the difference.  Did more neatening(?)  Is that a word?

Took a major side step when I was putting photos in one of  those little mini-albums.  There was a picture taken at Lee’s parents’ house of what I think was the first Thanksgiving after our marriage.  Everybody was there.  Then, of course, you start doing the memories-thing and an hour goes by.  It was good, though.  All those lovely people.

I remembered one Thanksgiving when Lee’s brother, Mark brought some wine–it was the darkest, reddest wine I had ever seen.  Aunt Gertie tipped her wine glass over and it spilled on my mother-in-law’s beautiful white lace tablecloth.  Yikes.  We had to get the tablecloth off the table and out to the kitchen to soak it before it stained.  They were good times.

My hellebore is covered with beautiful, almost black blossoms and the tulips are up.  No buds yet, just leaves.  It is amazing how God’s stuff works .  Faithfully, every year.

That’s about it for today.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Today Totally Stank

And now we’re under a tornado watch until 7 tonight.

For some reason, I was totally paralyzed today–couldn’t do a  thing.

The weather, as usual, was no help.  Gray, very overcast, and unseasonably warm.  It’s funny, but looking back on some of Lee’s posts, I can see he complained quite a bit about the weather.  Now I don’t feel so bad, he did it too.

Many of the things I wanted to post today were not able to be shared.

Just general frustration, which, when coupled with my non-existent energy made for a lousy day.

As the old New Jersey saying goes “I shouldda stood in bed.”

Well, at least I was able to get lamb chops for supper.

All is not lost.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Some Really Good News

Got really good news today.

I picked up my phone and there was a message from Lee’s sensei .  I called him and he will be coming over on Thursday morning to pick up the sword and take it to someone who is an expert on swords.  That’s just great news.  One less thing to worry about.  That really was a big worry to me.

Other than that, nothing major.

Except my computer is acting up.  It has taken to displaying a blue screen error message from Microsoft saying it has to gather some information.  It is a legitimate Microsoft message.  The computer gets turned back on, but then it forgets passwords and other things.  I have my computer set up so that I don’t have to do passwords on very many locations, and this new amnesia is annoying.  I will have to call Adam and see what’s going on.

No sunshine today, and very cold.  It feels like it could snow, although we are supposed to get rain.

That’s about it for now.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

Land to the tiller | Cat questions, Funny cat memes, Wild cats

From June 3, 2022

I feel like an empty burlap bag.

Maybe it’s because we never get two sunny days in a row around here. That gets to you after a few months. Maybe it’s because nobody living under this roof feels exactly in the pink. Maybe it’s just the nooze wearing me down. Or some combination thereof.

And where is everybody?

All these maintenance errands to do today. Supermarket. Bank. Convenience store (not really convenient at all). Call doctor’s office. Try to get prescriptions refilled, drive to the mall and stand in line, waiting to pick them up. How do I do all that and still do my work?

Ai-ya, time to take my blood pressure…

P.S.–Are any of you seeing these posts as real light-grey letters on a white background, almost impossible to read? That’s what it looks like at this end. *Sigh*
