The Best-Laid Plans of Mice and Men…

So much for all I had planned to do today.

Instead I spent most of the day wrestling with a recalcitrant kitchen sink which had been threatening me with slow draining and ominous gurgling sounds for awhile.  My mother’s method (repeated pots of boiling water, which usually clears it) while most of the time is completely effective, did not seem to work as well.  I will repeat tomorrow, but it looks like a visit from the plumber is in order.  O boy!  Just what I wanted.

I had wanted to tell you about my Uncle Buster’s dog, Topper.  She was very much like some of those guardian cats in the cats and babies video.  She really didn’t like anybody much, except Uncle Buster and me.

I’ll tell you about her tomorrow.

Right now, I am going to relax and make my supper.

God bless everybody

I Am A Candidate for Bum of the Year Today

Years ago, when Lee and I were watching a lot of baseball (before they ruined the game), when a given player performed really abysmally in a game we would say he was a candidate for bum of the year.

Today I decided to take the day off–completely off.  No fretting about what had to be done, no projects started or finished.  Nada.  I watched a lot of YouTube, did a little reading, set up my spareribs for supper and that was basically it.

That turned out to be a very good idea.  I felt a lot better than I had been and had no sense of pressure or stress.

I just can’t let that become a habit.

Raining like mad here today and supposed to continue for another day or two.

God bless everybody.

Wrapping Up Today

Well, at least I got out and did some errands today.

Was very frustrated by the drugstore fiasco, but that seems to be the way things are going in these times.

Will take it easy now, watch some YouTube have my supper and a little TV then early bed.

Tomorrow I have to start summing up the stuff for the accountant.  That will  take a while as I don’t even have all the documents yet.

God bless everybody

TODAY

Oddly, today turned out to be really productive.

My hopes for today were  originally pretty slim.  The weather was atrocious, with a drizzling, not-quite-freezing rain, dark skies and generally crappy tone.  I managed to get out and do some errands, arrange for my car to be inspected tomorrow and catch up a little bit.  I got two grocery orders delivered, so the catering front is up to speed.  The town was a ghost town today, also.  That was a surprise–one of the stops was a liquor store and I thought for sure that would be a zoo, what with the New Year parties coming up.  Nobody was in the store but me and one other woman.

I have to  get out of here early tomorrow to drop my car at the mechanics.  It would be great if they could finish it tomorrow (hopefully without any expensive problems).

All in all, not a half-bad day.

God bless everybody.

Wrapping Up Friday

Did not get much done today.

I am still waiting for the electrician.  My landlord says he (the electrician) will come by as soon as he has time.  I am afraid I will have to get more assertive about this, because no light in the kitchen is a major pain in the butt, and is not safe.

My neighbor, Josh went to the store today and picked me up a small lamp and a supply of good bulbs for it.  It works well and will be a real help out there.  He is a blessing.

I have to admit I was very deflated today.  Plus it was dark and rainy most of the day.

Lee’s passing was only a short time ago, so there is always crying time.

I could use a crew in here, but when I am tired like this, I couldn’t even direct them.

Going to take it easy for the rest of the day.

God bless everybody.
