‘Largest Shark Ever Tagged’

The shark in Jaws was even bigger than this one.

In this game of tag, a slip-up could be fatal.

Scientists have announced that they’ve successfully tagged a nearly 14-foot-long great white shark in waters off Florida and Georgia (https://www.foxweather.com/earth-space/ocearch-track-sharks-ocean). The purpose of the tag is to allow them to track the shark’s movements over time, via radio signals.

The shark would normally be found some 40 miles offshore, a scientist confidently assured the public. “Farewell and adieu to ye fair Spanish ladies…”

Contender the white shark was tagged on January 17, 2025, off the FL/GA coast.

Don’t slip and fall off the boat.

Enjoying our Sabbath rest, I like to kick back with a movie in the afternoon. My father always used to do that, although he liked to watch from a prone position on the couch and almost always fell asleep.

Fun Fact: Roy Scheider’s immortal line in Jaws, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat,” was an ad lib! Probably the greatest single line in his whole acting career–and he came up with it himself, on the spur of the moment.
