I don’t know why this should be, but I felt immensely satisfied when the cat finally knocked the stupid drone out of the air. Somehow that said to me, “B.S. will not rule the world. Cats won’t allow it.”
Are there any animals who understand what a reflection is? Yeesh, I had a chameleon who just about exploded when he saw himself in a mirror. But what stumps a lizard shouldn’t baffle a dog… should it?
I’m keelhauled if I can see the point of this cat video. Can you? But that’s how this day has gone for me. Three hours late with the critter video, and an unsuccessful stab at grocery-shopping. Maybe Byron the Quokka can take over while I go soak my head.
What can I do to amuse my cat today? I know! Bring in a shovelful of snow and dump it on the floor so he can play with it. This is probably something a husband and wife should agree on before they try it.
Isn’t domestication wonderful? A wild cat would eat the ducklings. Wild ducks don’t want anything to do with cats. Yet here they are together. Wouldn’t it be nice if humans could be domesticated, too?
While the hen practices standing on one leg, the cat cuddles the chicks. A little eccentricity is a nice thing in an animal. Don’t worry–no one gets pecked and no one gets eaten. A glimpse into the Peaceable Kingdom.
Some cats positively freak out when they see a cucumber. Why is that? What does a cucumber look like, to a cat? Can’t they recognize it as an inanimate object? Information, please! Inquiring minds want to know.
Our family dog, Rags, never played hide-and-seek until he was old and had lost much of his hearing. Suddenly he became a hide-and-seek fanatic, wanted to play it every day. Well, why not? Humans have to be good for something; any dog will tell you that.

Our cat Buster chased moths, but he also sat and challenged them to come down from the ceiling… as if any moth in his right mind would agree to that. It never worked, but he never stopped trying.
