It’s been a while since I posted this glorious old Scottish hymn, Behold, the Mountain of the Lord (in Latter Days Shall Rise), sung here by Godfrey Birtill; but I felt a need for it this morning. Isaiah said they shall not hurt nor destroy in all God’s holy mountain. We long to see it rise.
This is one of my favorite hymns; and the way things are going down here in the fallen world, we need it more than ever–Behold, the Mountain of the Lord, an ancient Scottish hymn sung by Godfrey Birtill.
Pray for Christ’s Kingdom.
Work for Christ’s Kingdom.
Live for Christ’s Kingdom.
What they offer us instead is only so much trash.
I need this hymn, just now–this ancient Scottish hymn, Behold the Mountain of the Lord. Immersed in nooze for several hours, I found myself yearning to hear it again.
This one thing I think I’ve learned: the Mountain of the Lord is rising even as we speak. We’re just too small, our lives are just too short, to see it.
And that’s where faith comes in. Because only faith can see it.
Looking around for something new, I found something old–The Lord’s My Shepherd, a traditional Scottish hymn first published in 1650: the 23rd Psalm set to music.
May it fortify our spirit.
