‘Like a River Glorious’ (Crown College Choir)

There are still young people in our colleges who can be an inspiration to us–and oh, what human voices can do, when they have the training for it!

This is the Crown College Choir performing Like a River Glorious at Temple Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Curtain Call, ‘Jesus Saves’

I hope you don’t mind me posting this hymn again, Jesus Saves. I need saving. And I waited years to learn the name of this hymn, and to hear the lyrics. Glad I didn’t miss it altogether.

I like it best, played with muted brass; but there’s something to be said for a great hall full of people belting it out for all they’re worth. This is the congregation at Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee.

Amen! ‘All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name’

The congregation and choir at Temple Baptist Church, Powell, Tennessee, will never let you down when you want a hymn belted out with joy and panache, as it should be belted out. Start your day with All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name. Ought to be blue sky, forested hills, and fertile farmlands in the background–a church without walls–but Temple Baptist will do.

The Whole Congregation: ‘He Hideth My Soul’

Does not this hymn cry out to you to sing it? He Hideth My Soul, by Fanny Crosby, published in 1890–sung by the whole congregation at Temple Baptist Church in Tennessee. Turn up the volume, turn it up!

‘When We All Get to Heaven’

I need my spirits lifted up today, and this fine old hymn from 1898 ought to do it–When We All Get to Heaven, sung by the congregation at the Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee.

These people can really sing–turn up the volume!

Encore, ‘O Worship the King’

If you love this hymn as much as I do, you won’t mind if I post it again. Let’s start the day with praise of God–you might want to turn up the volume for this one.

This is from a worship service at Temple Baptist Church in Tennessee. Has that guy up onb the podium got a voice, or what?

P.S.–If you’re new to this blog, please note that I post hymns requested by readers–in fact, I try to do it every day. Anyone can request a hymn. Just “leave a reply” anywhere on the blog, and I’ll do the rest.

I know a lot of you enjoy these hymns, but only a couple of you actually request them. So don’t be bashful–jump right in!

By Request, ‘Jesus is Coming Again’

Before taking on the day’s challenges in the news, let us fortify ourselves with a hymn–Jesus is Coming Again (1957), sung with verve by the congregation at Temple Baptist Church in Powell, Tennessee. Thank you, Joyce, for requesting it.

Now I think I’ll do some laundry and ride a couple of miles on my bike. Mustn’t let a lovely spring day go to waste.

Our ancient dogwood tree has blossomed, and the one old, old tulip we had is now a pair of gorgeous red tulips.

God’s stuff works.
