A Playful Armadillo

It’s been a while since I posted this video. I’ve always liked it. Mammals do have an instinct for play. Really, I don’t imagine an armadillo needs to perfect its hunting skills by pouncing on a little plastic doll. Play is a gift of God. Be thankful!

And by now I’ve run out of gas for the day, and need to rest. Abdominal surgery is in my future. Not that I want to discuss it.

Platypus Goes Swimming

Yeah, ho-hum, another platypus video. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ’em all.

They don’t exactly go thronging your back yard when it rains, though, do they? I am convinced that these creatures make the world a better place, however much an earthworm or a crayfish might disagree.

Baby Rhinos

I kept waiting for some of these rhinos to spin cocoons, but I guess it’s the wrong time of year. But I hope you can see from this video that they’re not stupid ferocious beasts that mindlessly attack anything that moves. For that kind of critter you have to go to Washington or Hollywood.

Otters Holding Hands (Yes, Really)

(Thanks to Susan for the tip)

These are sea otters at the Vancouver Aquarium. They like to sleep floating on their backs in the water. And they, well, sort of hold hands while they’re doing it.

Surely, if you’re a couple of otters out on the open sea, you don’t want to drift miles apart while you’re asleep and maybe never be able to find each other again.

And maybe they really like each other!

Orangutan Optics

A visitor accidentally dropped her sunglasses into the organgutan enclosure. The orangutan picked them up–and knew exactly what to do with them! I’m thinking it’s a mama orangutan because there’s a baby following her around.

Not only does the orang know just how to use sunglasses. She also throws them away when the novelty wears off–and that’s a pretty good throwing arm she’s got, could’ve used her on my softball team.
