100 years ago, a High School diploma was far from universal, and that opened the door to many employment opportunities. Fifty years later, a High School diploma was all but ubiquitous, and to stand out, a bachelor’s was needed. Nowadays, bachelor’s degrees are all but ubiquitous, so a master’s, or even a doctorate is required to stand out. If there comes a day when doctorates are ubiquitous, then that will cease to have meaning. There are so many master’s out there that it’s become meaningless in some business environments. IMO, it’s lost all meaning.
“Everybody has to go to college” was a really stupid idea.
I’m much more impressed with technical training that with much of what comes out of the colleges, these days.
