This lovely hymn, Panis Angelicus (“Bread of Angels”), sung by Andrea Bocelli, came into my head as I was grocery shopping this morning. It’s one of the hymns we play when setting up our Christmas tree.
Who is the bread of angels? Jesus Christ: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” (John 6:51)
Phoebe asked for Adeste Fideles–and there were so many lovely renditions to choose from (pardon the dangling preposition), no way to go wrong. So I hope you all enjoy this one, sung by Andrea Bocelli.
We aren’t one of those awful blogs that chase off family members. My wife discovered Andrea Bocelli yesterday, and his rendition of Amazing Grace brought her to tears. I’ve been saving it for this morning.
Born with poor eyesight, Bocelli became blind following a sports injury suffered when he was 12 years old. He has become one of the world’s most beloved singers; and we have him singing one of the world’s best-loved hymns.
