De Luxe Boat Launch Fails

I’ve got to say it’s not that hard to launch a boat from a boat ramp; but some people certainly seem to find it so.

You don’t need an electric car bursting into flame for no reason, so have a disaster on the ramp. How many cars, pickup trucks, and RVs have wound up in Davy Jones’ locker? And once your boat is launched, and on the water, you’ll see that for some boaters, their troubles have only just begun.

These videos raise serious questions about the overall capability of human beings who can afford big boats.

Slapstick Boat Launches

When you launch your boat, it’s rather important that the boat is to go into the water first, not your car. It’s amazing, how many people don’t seem to have grasped that.

If you want slapstick and the Three Stooges aren’t around, you can’t do better than to visit your nearest boat launch ramp. Hint: cars and pickup trucks don’t work well when they’re entirely submerged in water.

Not that we’re laughing at people’s misfortunes–but really, it’s very, very easy to avoid these mishaps. They really don’t have to happen.

P.S.–Do these videos actually show up on Facebook when I post them? I keep getting the Bell Mountain cover instead of the video. Believe me, it’s not me trying to advertise my book. I have no idea why this happens.

Labor Day Boat Launch Fails

Looks like some people just can’t decide whether to launch their boat or launch their car–so a lot of cars and pickup trucks wind up in the drink.

Time for a movie!

Laugh Break: Boat Launch Fails

Spring is here, and it’s time to go boating!

Many of us launch and retrieve our boats by way of public boat launch ramps. It’s not really that hard to do, provided you remember not to launch your car into the water, too. This simple principle seems to have eluded the boat owners in this video.

Problems can also arise when your trailer isn’t strong enough to bear the weight of your boat. It’s not a good thing when your trailer collapses and the wheels come off. It’s something you should have checked before you went boating. An ounce of prevention’s worth a pound of cure, etc.

Bonus Video: A Summer Day Gone Wrong

Don’t let this happen to you. It’ll ruin your day.

When launching a boat, it’s important to remember that it’s the boat that’s supposed to go into the water, not the car. If you forget this key principle, you could wind up starring in the next “boat launch fail” video.

Can You Find This Video?

So your boat is hitched to your car, and you want to launch it via the boat ramp. If you’ve never done it before, do you A) simply use common sense, turn, and back your boat down the ramp because it’s the obvious thing to do, B) watch how everybody else does it, and do it that way, or C) just drive right into the water, car first, and drown your engine?

In one of the first videos we ever saw on our computer, years ago, some poor jidrool chose option C. There are, today, countless videos on youtube of boat launch fails. But this was the only one I ever saw of somebody driving right down the ramp and into the water, car first. It is unique.

And I’ve always wanted to post it here, for your edification, but I just can’t find it!

Perhaps someone out there can provide us with this classic video.
