Mommy-Cat on the Job

This kitten’s eyes have only just opened for the first time, and he gets right to work exploring his surroundings. You can see how closely his mother watches over him.

I had a mouse once who had one baby, just one–and she wouldn’t even let us see it until it was fully equipped. I never saw a more beautiful mouse than that.

Kitty’s Bad Neighbor

This poor cat is being harassed by a mockingbird. We don’t know why. We’ve known bluejays to attack cats who’ve hunted their babies. Do mockingbirds do that, too? Anyway, somebody needs to go outside and bring the cat indoors. But maybe the bird’s got the humans intimidated, too.

Two Cats, One Problem

I don’t know why, but this video reminds me of junior high school shop class.

How do you get the cat treats out of the whatchamacallit? We have two cats, employing two different approaches to the puzzle. One of these approaches will work; the other, not so much. Maybe the cats need a shop class.

Cat & Spider: The Showdown

This spider–I can’t tell what kind it is–seems disposed to stand up to the cat. But then sanity prevails and he runs away.

We used to get these big nursery-web spiders wandering into our living room. Our cat Buster always ate them. I cannot quite describe how disgusting that was.

Cats & Babies

I’ve never seen a video of a baby screaming with terror as a cat approached. And cats seem to like human babies… Do they understand that babies are, well, human kittens?

Betcha they do.

Messy Bad Cats

Some of these rooms look like the end of the world happened. But I couldn’t resist this video because one of the cats looks just like Robbie, white bib and all. But she has never, ever, misbehaved like cats in the film.

I’m used to cats doing small mischiefs, but this is ridiculous.

Cats Don’t Like Change

Although the cat in this video is eventually reconciled to his new blanket, it’s a well-known fact that cats don’t like change.

When we got a new sofa for our living room, our cat Henry wouldn’t go anywhere near it; he’d slink along the opposite wall when he wished to cross the room, casting suspicious glances at the sofa all the way.

You can always try to explain to your cat that the change is for the better.

Cat Annihilates Intruder!

Don’t worry, I cut out all the gory parts! But would you believe it? That one sock, with a bit of foot or something in it, is all that’s left of the bad guy who broke into the cat’s house to steal guided missile plans. A neighbor says the intruder escaped by hopping on one leg into the darkness; but I think the cat left him on the back porch steps with the recycling.

Kitten Learning Zipper Science

Y’know, it wouldn’t take that much luck for a cat to learn how to open a zipper. Diplomatic pouches, beware! I knew a cat who could and did open the refrigerator.

It is said that Shakespeare had a cat who could forge his signature–and that a few of those plays might be the cat’s work.

Cat Coping with a Marshmallow

Living with humans, cats are often confronted with new and strange experiences. There is nothing in the cats’ handbook to tell them what to do with a marshmallow.

Unfortunately, this video leaves us in suspense. What is the cat’s ultimate solution to the problem of the marshmallow? (“Alimentary, my dear Watson–alimentary…”)
