‘Light of the World’

I don’t know how many times I’ve posted this hymn, and I hope you don’t mind hearing it again. I felt a need for it today. This world needs the light of Jesus Christ: nothing else can lift the darkness.

Light of the World, by Charles Wesley; performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

By Request, ‘Jesus, Lover of My Soul’

The antidote to bad nooze is good news; and there’s no better news than the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Requested by Erlene, a Charles Wesley hymn from 1740: Jesus, Lover of My Soul, sung by the Altar of Praise Chorale.

[I couldn’t decide whether another stupid nooze item or another hymn, so I’ve posted both.]

By Request: ‘Jesus, Lover of My Soul’

And we have a hymn request to start the day, this one from SlimJim–Jesus, Lover of My Soul, a classic hymn by Charles Wesley, sung by the Altar of Praise Chorale.

The hymn shop is open; all you’ve got to do is walk right in.

‘Light of the World’ (I Need It)

It’s the little things that beat you down. The weather’s dark and dreary, I’m running late, and all sorts of equipment is failing me–blood pressure monitor, Patty’s car, toilet. All at once.

So I pray this hymn blesses me, and all of you who hear it: Light of the World, by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

‘Light of the World’

No hymn requests yet today; and it’s raining again, it’s hardly ever sunny out… So I’ll go with one of my favorite hymns, maybe it can lift my spirits and yours–Light of the World by Charles Wesley, sung by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

By Request, ‘Christ the Lord Is Risen Today’

Requested by SlimJim, this glorious Easter hymn by Charles Wesley–Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, sung by the Yoder Family. Nothing beats a churchful of congregants, and a choir, singing this on a sunny Easter morning!

(P.S.–Patty says the laptop’s ready. Here goes…)

Bonus Hymn, ‘Light of the World’

This hymn has been knocking at the door of my mind all morning, so I guess I need it: Light of the World, by Charles Wesley, sung by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

We’re missing our Peep this weekend. It’s hard.

By Request, ‘And Can It Be That I Should Gain’

How heartening is this! We have hosts and hosts of brothers and sisters in Christ, all over the world–everywhere. In this video, India.

Requested by Susan, a Charles Wesley hymn sung by an Indian choir, 200 voices strong–And Can It Be That I Should Gain?

Bonus Hymn, ‘Light of the World’

I know, I know, I post this hymn rather often. I’ve been worried for my wife, worried for my cat–and Phoebe’s cat, Iggy, needs your prayers today–had a poor night’s sleep… but this hymn is soul medicine.

Light of the World by Charles Wesley, sung the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. It never fails to stir my soul. I hope it does the same for you.

‘Away With Our Sorrow and Care’

Here’s one I’d never heard before, a Charles Wesley classic–Away with Our Sorrow and Care, performed the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

We’re still sick here, still in need of prayers. I still can’t focus long enough to write a Newswithviews piece.
