Yes, I know I posted this hymn just the other day. But Erlene requested it just now, Easter is coming, and this is surely one of the Easter hymns–Christ the Lord is Risen Today, written by Charles Wesley in 1739; sung here by the Yoder family.
With gorgeous photos of God’s handiwork, proclaiming His glory and His love, and His ever-present nearness to us.
“SlimJim” requested “anything by Steve Green,” and this was about the best I could do. Strangely, most of the Steve Green videos on youtube featured assorted pictures of him rapidly flashing across the screen. I was afraid it might give someone a seizure.
Christ the Lord is Risen Today is a hymn usually reserved for Easter. But I think we need it today–don’t you?
I’ve been saving this one all week, just for today–Christ the Lord is Risen Today, by Charles Wesley: performed in true 18th century style by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. Worth waiting for, I say!
Hymn by Charles Wesley, 1739, Christ the Lord is Risen Today–one of the all-time classic Easter hymns, here sung a capella by the Yoder Family from St. John’s, Michigan. Yes, I know it’s not Easter yet. But we can always play this hymn again on Easter Sunday.
For me, this is the Easter hymn: Christ the Lord is Risen Today. Words by Charles Wesley. Sung by the Joslin Grove Choral Society. Inspiration by the Holy Spirit.
He is risen, and He shall raise us, too. That is all we need to know.
Wow, this moved me! Give it a listen–a spirited, upbeat rendering of Christ the Lord is Risen Today, by NCC Worship.
In the absence of a reader’s hymn request, I just go with whatever hymn is the first to pop into my head that morning. Sometimes, like this time, that works out rather nicely.
But remember–the hymn shop is open to one and all, every day and all the time, so if you’ve got a favorite hymn you’d like to see posted here, just let me know.
When the heathen rage, and people imagine vain things…
When the wicked and ungodly prosper, and the future looks bleak…
When our strength lessens, and our faith breaks out in questions–
And this would be a good thing to sing: Christ the Lord is Risen Today. We thank the Joslin Grove Choral Society for this beautiful rendition.
Turn the volume way, way up for this! I don’t think there are many churches where this hymn has not been sung today.
Words by Charles Wesley. Message by the Holy Spirit.
Raise high our voices, Christians–God will hear us.
