‘Soldiers of the Lion’

Linda called for this one: Soldiers of the Lion, by Chuck Girard. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5) is not a tame lion, and it is our glory to be allowed to enter into the labors of all His saints. And if the lyrics are a bit much for squishy, world-pleasing Christians–You’ve had the planet long enough… Get you back to outer darkness–well, that’s all to the good.

By Request, ‘Sometimes Alleluia

Our sister Linda Sorci has requested this hymn–Sometimes Alleluia, sung by Chuck Girard–and along with it, let’s keep praying for her: because Our Lord Jesus Christ at various times taught us to be persistent in our prayers, and because Linda and her husband Michael need our prayers right now.

O Lord Our God, deliver your servants out of trouble! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

By Request, ‘The Name Above All Names’

Hot dog, there’s no such evil news out there today, I don’t know where to begin. Maybe I won’t begin at all.

In the meantime, let us fortify ourselves with worship: the things that dismay and frighten us only make God laugh, before He puffs them away with one breath of His nostrils. The day of the wicked will last not one second longer than He has already ordained.

So here, requested by Erlene, is Chuck Girard with The Name Above All Names.

By Request, ‘Tongues of Fire’

Erlene asked for this one, so here it is–Tongues of Fire, performed by Chuck Girard.

Do we not hunger and thirst for communion with the Holy Spirit? Especially in this evil age.

O Lord Our Father, do as thou has said! Pour out thy spirit upon all flesh–and let the Mountain of the Lord arise.

Encore, ‘Soldiers of the Lion’

By popular demand, one more time–Chuck Girard and Soldiers of the Lion.

There are Christians who just cringe all over at the military metaphor, never mind the New Testament resorts to it again and again.

This song reminds me of one of my favorite lines in all the Bible, spoken by David:

“Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (I Samuel 17:26)

It is a question we can still ask today; and you can come up with as many answers as I can.

Encore, ‘Sometimes Alleluia’

I posted this back in February, but some of you said you’d like to hear it again–Sometimes Alleluia, by Chuck Girard.

Now, don’t anyone be mad at me, I shoulda known this would happen–but some of the hymn requests seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle. It doesn’t mean I rejected any of them. This has grown into a bigger project than I anticipated, so I now know I should keep a separate record of hymn requests. Starting now.

By Request, ‘Lay Your Burden Down’

Before I sail any farther into harm’s way, let me catch up a little on hymn requests–with Lay Your Burden Down, performed by Chuck Girard.

I will try to post all hymns requested by my readers. So step right up, folks, don’t be shy.

By Request, ‘Sometimes Alleluia’

Before I go rushing off to the nursing home to see my aunt–she misses the caregiver, a woman from Ghana, who devotedly tended to her and her sisters for going on twenty years, and there’s nothing I can do about that–let me post this, requested by Linda: Sometimes Alleluia, by Chuck Girard.

It’s hard to learn how to just lean on Jesus’ everlasting arms. I haven’t got the hang of it yet. I am glad He is patient with me.
