‘Tom & Jerry’ for Cats

Some of our cats were fascinated by television. Some ignored it; others grew out of it. We can’t help wondering if our pets see it very differently. Our cat Buster really got turned on by Nature. He would have loved to get hold of those little elephants inside the magic box.

Now That’s a Cat Toy!

Watch this cat: you can practically see the question mark forming over his head. A kind of jack-in-the-box for cats–why didn’t I think of that? I’d’ve made a mint! And probably confused a few cats along the way.

They Walked on Two Legs

It’s unusual, to say the least. None of our cats ever did it. My iguana did, until he grew too big. Cats do it, I suppose, a) to see better, b) to earn a tasty treat, or c) because they’ve got a screw loose somewhere.

The Battle for the Bed

Our cat Buster–a red cat, like the one in this video–loved playing around in the nice big human bed. Under the sheets, like a submarine: that was his favorite. BTW, cats devote no effort at all to trying to understand why you might want to make your bed.

Cat vs. Deer (I Think)

What’s going on here? Are the cat and the deer playing a game with each other, or are they just cheesed off? Don’t tell me the cat is stalking the deer. I mean, what would he do with it, if he caught it?

When You’re Not Laundering Money…

These look like very clean cats; and they have access to a washing machine. How carefully do you check the machine before you start your laundry? I mean, I heard about a guy who found an armadillo in his washing machine…

Cats Can’t Play Chess

I hope this doesn’t come as a shock–but cats have never learned to play chess.

For our cat, Henry, the irresistible lure was Strat-O-Matic baseball. Dice, and little plastic baserunners–how was he supposed to ignore that? (He didn’t!) I didn’t dare leave the room until I put the game away.

Low-Cost Entertainment (For Cats)

When I was in high school we had a huuuge paper airplane fad. The cat in this video would’ve felt right at home. None of our cats ever got involved with paper planes, though. Believe me, I tried.

Ah! The Scent of… Human Feet

Why do so many cats sniff human feet? And then they make The Face. They have no choice but to taste what they smell. That’s why The Face.

Holy moly, I’m tired! I DO NOT WANT TO GO ANYWHERE TOMORROW.

Energetic Kittens

These are such pretty kittens–and look at ’em go! What must it be like, to have that kind of energy? Well, most of us did have it, once upon a time; but sometimes it’s hard to remember how it felt.
