Erlene requested this yesterday, and it’s just perfect today for the good mood I’m in–Heaven’s Joy Awaits, sung a capella by the Gaither Vocal Band. And is that a kazoo in the background, in the introduction? Very creative!

A bonus hymn today, requested by Erlene–I Then Shall Live, by the Gaither Vocal Band. If the music seems familiar, well, it’s Finlandia, by Sibelius. And how can you not be moved by the gorgeous photos of God’s handiwork?
Joshua has another Christmas hymn for us–Mary, Did You Know?, sung by Mark Lowry with the Gaither Vocal Band. This is the second request for this hymn, but there’s no limit, so let everyone feel free to promote any hymn they wish to hear. It’s all part of the fun of our first annual Christmas Carol Contest!
The winner will be whoever asked for the hymn that had the most views on any single day of the contest. Meanwhile, there’s one prize for everyone–the hymns themselves.
Joshua requested this–Alpha and Omega by the Gaither Vocal Band. Lots of brio in this worship song! I especially like the intro, words of Revelation set to music.
P.S.–Our Esteemed Colleague Joshua has just started his own blog, so let’s see how many views and comments we can give him, to get it launched.
Erlene thought we might like this one: Till the Storm Passes By, by the Gaither Vocal Band. I can’t say whether the big storm has started yet, but there sure have been, and are, a lot of smaller ones.
Erlene asked for this one, These Are They, by the Gaither Vocal Band: as in “These are they” who have come out of great tribulation, and into salvation–see the Book of Revelation.
If you’re new here, we try to start every day with a hymn or worship song. I take requests and try to post each and every song requested. If there’s a hymn you’d like to see posted here, just let us know.
Erlene asked for this one, and here it is–the Gaither Vocal Band with Heaven’s Joy Awaits.
A lot of new visitors have been here lately, so I want to let them all know that we do hymn requests. If there’s a hymn or Christian song you’d like to see posted here, just let me know–the more, the merrier. Wait’ll you see how we go to town around Christmas-time!
Susan asked for this one: Mark Lowry with the Gaither Vocal Band, What’s Not to Love? There are some, I fear–maybe this is just my own Dutch Reformed upbringing–who might be made uncomfortable by a perceived lack of seriousness: but the music is cool, the performers know their stuff, and the lyrics are strictly in line with God’s word. So let it be a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Foolish, isn’t it, to oppose the singing of God’s praise and the preaching of the cross against the mighty powers of a fallen world? But God likes that kind of foolishness, and uses it all the time: see I Corinthians 1.
The Gaither Vocal Band, with Ernie Haas, sings These Are They Whom Have Come Out of Great Tribulation: this is Revelation 7:14, with echoes of Hebrews 11.
I am reminded again of King Alfred’s words: “For the Lord is our defense, Jesu defend us!”
I can’t remember who requested this, but whoever it was, thank you–Sitting at the Feet of Jesus, by the Gaither Vocal Band.
Listen to the lyrics: they’re Biblical. “He is all my righteousness.” This is the foundation of our hope, our assurance of salvation.
‘Cause if we had to generate our own righteousness, we’d none of us make it.
