Just in case the world doesn’t end anytime soon, I’ve got to get back to work today.

Update: Bell Mountain No. 12, His Mercy Endureth Forever, is about ready to be published–any day, now. (Note to Watchman: I haven’t forgotten! I’ll send you your copy of the book as soon as I get mine.) Editing has begun on No. 13, The Wind from Heaven. And as for No. 14–well, it isn’t written yet, I don’t have a title… but the Lord has provided me with an insight that I think will drive the book, once I start writing it.

Meanwhile, I’ve got to write this week’s Newswithviews column. Note to WhiteRabbit: I’ve decided to follow your suggestion. Patty thought it was a great idea.

And here’s an idea that just hit me–completely unrelated to anything else that’s going on here: True friendship is doing something you don’t like for someone whom you like.

I was going to cover the Democrat debate today, but never mind. I can’t think of anyone who really wants me to.

The weather changed radically today, temperature up 25 degrees from the weekend–and yeesh, I’m beat! If I feel like this on Monday, what’s going to be left of me by Friday?

Somehow I made it to the supermarket, cranked out a Newswithviews column, and managed a few blog posts. I should ride my bike, but I’m too tired.

Spending a couple hours reading and writing about public education, that’ll wear out anyone who has a soul.

We’re still trying to find a way to post the full cover of His Mercy Endureth Forever, but so far the computer has defeated us at every turn. Even Patty hasn’t been able to find the way.

Doctor visits set for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Oh-blah-dee, oh-blah-da…

While Lee sweats his Newswithviews column for the week–it’s not as easy as it looks!–I, Byron the Quokka, am here to tell you we have only 137 comments to go, to wrap up our current comment contest at 56,000.

The winner gets an autographed copy of His Mercy Endureth Forever, Book No. 12 in the Bell Mountain series. I just can’t get the guy to spring for a bicycle. Heck, they’re parked all over the place. No one will notice if it’s just one. But no, the only prize he’s offering is a book.

Only humans are eligible to win the contest, otherwise it’d be all quokkas. I have to admit, we’re crazy about your comments!

G’day! Byron the Quokka here, and the comment contest is heading for its exciting denouement. I’m not sure what that is, but at least I spelled it right. Aunt Feezy says my mother’s onion soup is “a real denouement!”

Right! We’re shooting for 56,000 comments, and we’ve got 55,645… which means… ah, here’s my abacus… just 355 to go! And whoever posts Comment No. 56,000 will win an autographed copy of Lee’s new Bell Mountain book–which somebody says is the best one yet!–His Mercy Endureth Forever. It’s not out yet, but it should be pretty soon: people keep calling the publisher, asking for it.

They still won’t let me give away a bicycle.

G’day, everybody! Byron the Quokka here–and I got so bollixed up this weekend, trying to untangle that Oy, Rodney mess, that I totally forgot I was supposed to be running a comment contest.

Well, the contest is still on, the goal is still 56,000, and we’ve got 55,247 in hand–which leaves… um… 753 comments to go. How’s that for math! And the winner will get an autographed copy of Lee’s Bell Mountain No. 12, His Mercy Endureth Forever–which hasn’t been published yet, but it will be, soon. Or you can request an earlier book in the series.

All comments are eligible except comments that are abusive to anybody else on this site, advertising disguised as comments, or remarks that are just too inane to bother with: other than that, anything goes.

I hope I don’t have to do anything more with Oy, Rodney. Sure, those recipes for toothpaste sandwich cookies are great, but I just can’t follow that story.

 

Boy am I Tired!

It’s cold, it’s rainy, it’s windy, dreary, and grey–and I’m so tired, I could just about plotz.

Some of you have been asking me when Bell Mountain No. 12, His Mercy Endureth Forever, will become available. I don’t know, but it’s just about all ready, so it ought to be out there pretty soon. Surely before Easter.

We’re doing one last round of editing, and I’ve just finished my part of that. I’ve got to tell you, and I’m not bragging, that there are scenes in this book that do make me feel I haven’t lived my life in vain. I give God the glory for that, who has guided me all the way through the writing of this book and all the others.

And now I think I’ll go plotz. Direct further inquiries to Byron the Quokka.

Byron Report: What Comment Contest?

That stern-looking quokka in the picture is my Great-Aunt Gladys, who is kind of cheesed off at the guy who runs this blog. She thinks it’s his fault the viewership is down. Well, all I know is, it sure ain’t mine!

G’day! Byron the Quokka here, with a progress report on the new comment contest that we started last week. The goal is 56,000 comments. We’re at 54,822, so that means we have 1,178 to go. (When Lee was my age, he couldn’t do arithmetic to save his life!)

The winner gets an autographed copy of Lee’s new book, His Mercy Endureth Forever, which is due to be published pretty soon. It’s the one with the giant hyena on the cover. How often do you get to read about giant hyenas?

Anyhow, the poor bloke depends on me to stir up his readership–like it’s not a big enough job just for me to run all these contests–and Aunt Gladys thinks it isn’t fair–well, blimey, I do what I can!

G’day! Byron the Quokka here. Cousin Jupe and me once found a whole package of Big Burger Taste just left there for anyone who might want it. There’s a lesson to be learned from that! And if I ever find out what it is, I’ll tell you.

So I’ve been talkin’ to the Big Mango here–oh, all right! he doesn’t like that nickname–I mean, talkin’ to Lee, and finally got him to let me run another comment contest.

Just now we have 54,602 comments, so the goal for this contest will be 56,000. Whoever posts Comment No. 56,000 will win an autographed copy of Bell Mountain No. 12, His Mercy Endureth Forever, when it comes out sometime early this year. I’ve read some of it already–wow!

He still won’t let me offer a bicycle as the prize. Sometimes the poor chap has no vision.
