I suddenly wished to hear and post this hymn–an old, old Isaac Watts classic, published in 1724: Am I a Soldier of the Cross? This rendition is by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Great evil and madness, once beyond our power to imagine, is afoot in our world today.
We must all be soldiers of the cross–any way we can.

Several times yesterday, I found myself whistling this gorgeous hymn–I Sing the Mighty Power of God. It does touch my heart! And moves me to give thanks: every good thing I have ever known has been a gift from God.

Phoebe asked for this one, so here it is–O God, Our Help in Ages Past. Written in 1719 by Isaac Watts and still going strong, sung here by the Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute choir–and would you believe we used to sing this in high school, in assembly?

I’m posting this hymn because, when I went outside today, they played it on the bells of St. Francis, across the street. I took it as a sign–O God, Our Help in Ages Past, by Isaac Watts (1719), sung by the Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute Singers.
We greatly appreciate your prayers for us, everybody; please keep them coming.
O Lord, we need some of that help; we are in very sore need of it. Please, Lord Jesus, heal us: and deliver our Robbie out of danger. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
