Still sitting here groggy, still sick…
How about an old-fashioned hymn, done the old-fashioned way? How Firm a Foundation, by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band–yes, that’s the ticket.

I’d never heard this hymn before today–O Thou Who Camest from Above, by Charles Wesley: played and sung the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. This is what the hymn sounded like, two hundred years ago.
Still sick, zero likes, zero comments–maybe a hymn by Charles Wesley can cheer things up around here. One of my favorite hymns: Light of the World, performed the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
We thank you for your prayers.
Just because the carol contest is over doesn’t mean we can’t have any more Christmas music. Don’t be shy–share your favorites.
This is one of mine–The Sussex Carol by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
Requested by Phoebe: Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
I hope these Christmas carols stir you as they stir me. I don’t care if my eyes tear up while I’m listening. This is for the birth of Jesus Christ! Redemption! Forgiveness of sins! Eternal life! That’s worth a few tears of joy, don’t you think?
No, I’m not trying to win my own contest. I just love this carol and want to share it with you–The Sussex Carol, performed the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
Come on, now–let’s get into the spirit.
Are you, shipmates, loving this as much as I am–all this Christmas music, on a nooze-free weekend? I have, I think, two more left to post; but maybe I’d better safe them for first thing tomorrow, to give them a fair shake in the carol contest.
Meanwhile, requested by “thewhiterabbit,” God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, sung and played the good old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
(And now I’ve got to do something about this living room…)
This hymn was in my head all day yesterday. I hope you don’t mind my posting it again, it’s one of my favorites–Light of the World by Charles Wesley, sung by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
If you’re new hear, we take as many hymn requests as we can get. If you have a hymn you’d like to share, just say so, leave it as a comment anywhere… and we’ll do the rest.
This hymn by Thomas Olivers, The God of Abraham Praise, was first sung in 1770. Here we have it by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band… performed the old-fashioned way.
The sun came out and I had a good morning’s work on my book, which put me in high spirits. Even the nooze couldn’t totally succeed in damping them; but it did give me a desire to hear John Bunyan’s hymn again.
Sung by Maddy Prior, with the Carnival Band, and by the author of “Pilgrim’s Progress”–To Be a Pilgrim. Sing it again, Maddy!
