It doesn’t look like much is happening; but the starfish has attacked a scallop and intends to eat it.

The fascinating aspect of this question is the fact that a starfish has no brain. And yet they do all the things they need to do, to stay alive. So how do they do them without a brain?

Mr. Nature: Do Starfish Think?

Can starfish learn? Can they remember? If so, where do they store the information?

I’ve been trying for years to find answers to those questions, but no dice. Apparently no one knows the answers.

God’s stuff always works. We just can’t figure out how.

Hi, Mr. Nature here! As you can see from this video, starfish can do things, albeit slowly. And that’s pretty remarkable, because a starfish doesn’t have a brain.

It’s a fact: no brain. It has a complicated nervous system; it can move, reproduce, respond to changes in the water, and hunt its prey; but it has no brain. (Note me laying off the wisecracks!)

So the question I have is this: can a starfish learn? And of course, to learn anything, you have to have some kind of memory. So we want to know if a starfish can remember anything.

I have been looking for answers to this question for years without ever having found one. You would think some marine biologist would be curious enough to do an experiment. If it were discovered that starfish can learn, and that without a brain, it would open up fascinating vistas of investigation.

If God did create the starfish with an ability to learn without a brain–wow!

The Sea Lily Walks

Hi, Mr. Nature here, with our first video of 2016.

Here is an animal which most people, looking at it, would think was a plant. Scientists call it a crinoid. Some people call it a sea lily. These are very commonly found as fossils, but as you can see, they’re still around today.

This footage was taken by a camera on the deep bottom of the sea. Hey, is that the flower’s stalk dragging after it? Yes, that’s what it is. Imagine seeing that in your garden: a tulip crawling along, dragging its stalk behind it. Except, of course, the crinoid is an animal, related to the starfish. And it can detach its stalk from whatever it’s clinging to.

Doesn’t God make cool stuff? I mean, really, if you were creating the world, would you have ever thought of crinoids?
