Baby Donkeys

All right, it’s not as exciting as Ben-Hur’s chariot race–but gee, baby donkeys are awful cute, aren’t they? Especially the one in the hammock. And I can never see videos of donkeys without thinking of this:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass (Zechariah 9:9)

Even so came Christ into Jerusalem.

By Request, ‘The Christmas Guest’

It’s early to be playing Christmas hymns, but Linda asked for this and how could I say no?–The Christmas Guest, by Grandpa Jones.

A funny thing happened to me while I was listening to this. A certain passage in Zechariah came to mind, and my eyes filled up with tears–tears of joy and relief.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of  Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.   –Zechariah 9:9

‘Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion’

Laura, you requested it, so here it is–from Handel’s “The Messiah,” Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion, aria sung by Kathleen Battle.

Rejoice, Christians–for the Lord liveth.

Palm Sunday

Let’s celebrate Palm Sunday with this clip from the movie, The Gospel of John,.

From the prophecy of Zechariah (9:9):

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Prophecy fulfilled.
