Cat Succumbs to Puppies

These are terribly cute puppies! Alas, the cat doesn’t think so. Can’t hiss them away–they don’t understand what that means. And gee whiz, completely abandoning the bed to them–well, if you’re gonna do that, you might as well turn in your cat badge.

When the Tail Wags the Cat

Well, of course not the cat’s own tail! I mean the tail of this large, deliriously happy dog: his tail wags the cat. It’s all kitty can do just to hold on. A little smaller and he’d have been sent sliding across the kitchen floor.

Cats Show Dogs Who’s Boss

Why do so many animals allow themselves to be buffaloed by cats? All right, a puff tail is pretty scary–but gee, dogs, get a grip. You gators and bears out there, I’m talkin’ to you, too! Why do you take so much guff from cats?

Kitten Tames Huge Ferocious Dog

This enormous savage dog at first seems… well, afraid of the tiny grey kitten. Or at least dubious about any possible association between them. Boldly the kitten persists–and no, he does not get eaten for his pains! These two are going to be friends.

Cats Not Clobbering Puppies

It would be very easy for any of these cats to clobber pesky puppies. Why don’t they do it?

Oh, come on! Would you clobber a puppy who just wanted to play with you? Give the cats some credit for humanity.

Hide & Shriek

Dogs love playing hide and seek. When I was a boy I used to play it with our dog, Rags. He was crazy about it.

Some cats will play it, but they’d rather turn it into the ever-popular Ambush Game. If the victim trips and falls, the cat wins.

Another Glimpse of the Peaceable Kingdom

All right, it’s not exactly an action movie. I’m too tired for that. But gee, it’s a nice video! I find it soothing. If a pregnant cat and a German shepherd can get their act together, maybe there’s hope for humans, too.

Kitten Adopts Colossal Big Dog

You see this a lot: the tiniest kittens want to make friends with the biggest dogs. I think the dog in this video wants to take a nap but is too polite to shoo the kitten.

This kitten reminds me of our cat, Buster, whose mission in life was to make friends with everything and everybody (except spiders: those he ate). He’d have loved it if we’d had a dog.

Who Says Cats & Dogs Can’t Get Along?

This won’t work in every household–but! Lonely dog, owner brings home a kitten, and in a very little while, the dog’s not lonely anymore at the kitten has a nice furry punching bag. It’s amazing what living with humans can do for animals.

Fun False Fact: Golden retrievers are the only dogs that hatch from eggs.

[Note: YouTube took down the video I had here originally, so I have had to replace it with something similar. It’s nice, enjoy it.]

Big Dog Is Kitten-Sitter

Four tiny kittens, one big dog. And everything looks just fine.

My uncle had a German shepherd that used to bark like crazy when we came to visit. I was terrified of it. Eventually it dawned on me that Shep never ate my cousins–so why should he eat me? So I girded up my loins and went to play with Shep: and that was all he’d wanted, all along.
