By Request, ‘Softly and Tenderly’

Here’s a hymn request from Laura–an antidote to the steady drip-drip-drip of bad news–Softly and Tenderly, by Sounds Like Reign. And using modern technology to glorify God: maybe there’s hope for that stuff, after all.

‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’

One singer, four-part harmony: wow! The Lord Bless You and Keep You, by Acapeldridge–you have to admire this creative use of technology to glorify God.

‘Alleluia’

Let’s start off the day with a hymn by Tennessee Ernie Ford–Alleluia.

My wife has a consultation with the doctor this morning, so please keep us in your prayers.

By Request, Where Your Glory Dwells

Requested by Erlene: Where Your Glory Dwells, performed by the Relevant Choir at the First Baptist Church, Athens (I presume that’s Athens, Georgia).

Keep those hymns coming, folks.

Encore! ‘Oh, the Deep Love of Jesus’

Susan requested another showing of this wonderful hymn, and here it is–Oh, the Deep Love of Jesus, with Katie Gayduchik on the violin and Simon Khorolskiy doing the singing. And glorious background sets by God the Father.

If we ever need that love, O Lord, we need it now.

‘Leaning on the Everlasting Arms’

This is surely a time for leaning on the everlasting arms. Our country is in the most danger it’s been in since World War II–and all of it home-grown. That’s not even counting the pestilence that came out of Red China.

The Gordon Quartet, a capella in a living room, and Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.

And if anybody out there has a hymn you’d like to share, today would be a good time to say so.

‘Christ for the World We Sing’

We have no king but Jesus Christ.

Let’s assemble in spirit and belt out a tried and true hymn, Christ for the World We Sing. Performed in the video by the choir and congregation at St. Bartholomew’s Church, New York City.

‘Christ Shall Have Dominion’

The first time I ever posted this hymn, someone out there objected: he didn’t want Christ to have dominion.

But we have no king but Jesus Christ.

Sung by the congregation at Grace Community Church, San Antonio, Texas: Christ Shall Have Dominion.

‘He Hideth My Soul’

You can’t go wrong with a hymn by Fanny Crosby, and she wrote eight or nine thousand of them–including this one, He Hideth My Soul. Performed by Nathan and Lyle, with family and friends, in Denton County, Texas.

‘Amazing Grace’ (Ernie Ford)

This is a wonderful rendition of Amazing Grace by Tennessee Ernie Ford, recorded in 1964.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
