‘Jesus Christ is Risen Today’

I couldn’t resist the beauty: Jesus Christ is Risen Today, by the King’s College Choir at Cambridge. This is one of those hymns that’s the very essence of Easter. I think we’ll want to use it again sometime soon.

Any Easter hymn requests out there?

‘Every Knee Shall Bow’

I reasoned there had to be a hymn with this title… and there is. I found Every Knee Shall Bow, by The Wilds, complete with lyrics. A nice start to the day, don’t you think.

Easter is coming, everybody. We’re open for Easter hymn requests!

By Request, ‘Beautiful Savior’

Joshua found this video of 4-year-old Claire Ryann singing Beautiful Savior. I wish I could reproduce the Youtube comments here. One that stands out: “I came back to the church because of this.”

Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings, as the old psalm says…

By Request, ‘Easter Proclamation’

Easter Proclamation (Exsultet in Latin), requested by “thewhiterabbit”–and Dave, I hope it’s the one you want. When I tried to use the link you gave me in your comment, my computer plotzed, emergency shutdown and all. I have no idea why. So I went to Youtube and fetched this. One way or another, we have an Easter hymn today.

By Request, ‘The Easter Song’

This is one of Joshua’s favorites, he wants to share it with you again–The Easter Song, by GLAD.

Hymn requests are an important feature of this blog, so no one need feel bashful about making one. The more, the merrier!

By Request, ‘I Drove the Nails’

Requested by Erlene, I Drove the Nails, by Carroll Roberson. More images of the Crucifixion: we have to face that. What Our Lord Jesus Christ did for us is barely comprehensible.

‘The Old Rugged Cross’

This hymn always used to make me cry, when I was a little boy. It still moves me today. The Old Rugged Cross, sung by Alan Jackson: we don’t forget.

By Request, ‘Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?’

Requested by Phoebe, sung by Johnny Cash–a traditional gospel hymn, Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?

These images (from Jesus of Nazareth, I believe) are strong medicine, and hard to bear. Crucifixion was an ugly way to die. I have to fight a need to avert my eyes. But this was the atonement for all the sins of all the world–for our sins–with the penalty paid by God Himself in the person of His beloved Son. Paid for all time. This is the very core of our Christian faith.

By Request, ‘Rise Again’

Easter is coming, everybody, and we want to post your favorite Easter hymns and worship songs.

This request is from Erlene–Rise Again, by Dallas Holm.

‘Up from the Grave He Arose’

This is the first hymn that I wanted when I woke today–Up from the Grave He Arose, sung by the Voice of Eden. Really, you can never be too early to celebrate Easter. Is there any reason not to rejoice in Christ’s Resurrection every day?
