‘Is Gangsta Rap Really Violent?’ (2016)

Police investigators at the Irving Plaza music hall after a shooting during a concert headlined by the rapper T.I. on Wednesday.

Is it me, or have shootings at rap concerts actually decreased in number? A few years ago they seemed to be a weekly occurrence.

Maybe everybody who was going to get shot has by now been shot. Or could it be that these events are still happening but have been upstaged and crowded out of the nooze cycle by other unpraiseworthy activities? I do try to avoid rap music, and maybe I’ve been more successful than I thought.

I’m still wondering what would happen if they gave a rap concert at a Bernie Sanders rally.

Is Gangsta Rap Really Violent?

Then I remembered hardly anybody ever comes to Democrat rallies.

But they would definitely draw a crowd if they offered gangsta rap along with the open borders, global warming, and reparations.

Memory Lane: ‘The Bible Tells Me So’

Phoebe mentioned this 1955 popular song in a comment, and although I’m sure I hadn’t thought of it since then, I instantly remembered it. Do you?

I didn’t know, at the time, that the song was written by Dale Evans. I must’ve thought she and Roy Rogers only sang Happy Trails to You at the end of their TV show.

There was another rap concert shooting this week in New York City. The gunfight broke out in the performer’s lounge and then into the concert hall, where four people stopped bullets. The police commissioner remarked that rappers are thugs who celebrate a violent subculture.

Mayor Warren Wilhelm Jr.–dba “Bill DeBlasio,” which is not his real name–quickly stepped into the breach, declaring that such violence as has come to be commonly associated with “rap” is really endemic in every area of American culture.

Y’know, he’s right. Look at all those shootings at any John Tesch concert. And those killing fields around Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins. Peter, Paul and Mary died in a shootout with a rival folk group, The Weavers. And do you remember how the murder rate used to shoot way up there after every broadcast of Leave It to Beaver?

Whereas “rap” is universally known to foster peace, serenity, and love.

I wonder what would happen if they gave a rap concert at a Bernie Sanders rally.

Dig that Godless culture!
