By Request, ‘How Great Thou Art’

Michele asked for this hymn–How Great Thou Art, by Home Free. I can’t hear this song without remembering my mother and my aunts singing it as they went about their housework. How I miss them! But “in my Father’s house are many mansions”–and Our Lord Jesus Christ has prepared a place for us (John 14:2).

First things first! We have a hymn for you, requested by Erlene–How Great Thou Art, sung by Alan Jackson. My grandma, my mother, and my aunts used to sing this as they went about their housework; this hymn is rich in memories for me.

How I would love to hear them singing it again.

Oh, there’s politics out there today that’d give a vulture indigestion. I suppose I ought to cover them.

But meanwhile, I do try to post all your hymn requests, even if it makes the site a little top-heavy.

Requested by Erlene, How Great Thou Art, sung by Carroll Roberson. My mother used to sing this as she did her housework.

By Request: Dino Kartsonakis

Erlene thought we’d enjoy this–piano virtuoso Dino Karstonakis performing well-known hymns. There are a bunch of these videos on YouTube; so if you like this one, there’s more.

Thank you, Erlene, for suggesting this hymn today–How Great Thou Art, sung by Alan Jackson. My mother used to sing this now and then, as she went about her housework.

That last post (“Would human extinction be good or bad?”) left a really vile taste in my mouth: so I needed God’s word, and a hymn, to wash it out. Really, our “science” has degenerated into shameful foolishness.

Let them prattle as they will. Here we stand, on God’s word.

Now this hymn will be in my head all day, but that’s a good thing. How often my mother and my aunts used to sing this as they went about their housework! Thank you, O God.
