‘Mary Magdalene on Easter Morning’ (2015)

Christ Appears to Mary Magdalene on Easter Morning - Noli me tangere Painting by Peter Paul Rubens

No! No nooze today. Let it be drowned out by the Good News–the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Can you imagine what Mary Magdalene experienced, that very first Easter morning?

Mary Magdalene, on Easter Morning

She knew He was dead; she’d seen Him die. She was at the tomb to minister to the body. The ministry, the message, the miracles–it was all over. No more.

Then they found the stone rolled away, and the tomb empty. At that moment the world changed. It would never be the same again. Sin and Death are dethroned. Christ shall reign forever.

And then she saw Him, and He spoke to her…

‘Up from the Grave He Arose’

This has become one of my favorite Easter hymns–Up from the Grave He Arose, sung by the Voice of Eden–our brothers in Christ by way of south India. It was fun to sing this in Sunday school. It’s inspiring to hear it now.

By Request, ‘Via Dolorosa’

“Via Dolorosa” means “the Road of Suffering.” It was the road upon which Our Lord Jesus Christ traveled to the hill of Calvary.

Requested by Tessa, sung by Sandy Patti–Via Dolorosa.

Not an easy thing to contemplate.

‘The Son of God Goes Forth to War’

This is a hymn about the martyrs, but let the wicked be warned: Christ will not return just so you can crucify Him again. The saints under the altar (Revelation 6:9) will finally be avenged.

The Son of God Goes Forth to War, sung by Joe Stout.

Bonus Hymn, ‘All Glory Be to Christ’

I usually post this hymn on New Year’s, but I want it now–All Glory Be to Christ, by King’s Kaleidoscope.

My soul needs healing, since Peep died. There is healing here, in the hands of Our Lord Jesus Christ. When we fall, our Savior lifts us up again.

‘All Power’ Means ‘All Power’

Jesus 'King Of Kings' - Home | Facebook

King of kings and Lord of lords

In Matthew 28:18–the next-to-next to last verse in the gospel–Jesus says,”All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth.” It is not recorded that any of His witnesses objected. No one said, “Except for the power of the Emperor in Rome.”

And when John and Peter were forbidden by the Temple authorities to preach Jesus, what did they reply? “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).

I bring this up because we, all of us, are always looking for exceptions to this rule: we don’t like to think that “all power” means “all,” without exception. We inherit Original Sin; that’s why we seek exceptions. But there aren’t any.

This should take care of those who think the Epistle to the Romans, particularly in Chapter 13, teaches us to obey all worldly authorities, all the time. There are people who call themselves Christians but seem to believe that there are times when Caesar outranks Christ. Is it really necessary to say they’re wrong? But it gives them an excuse–they think–to go along with abortion, transgender, same-sex “marriage,” and other public policies that contradict God’s commandments.

You know who they are.

Reaching Back to Christmas

Look at this flaming mess we call our world today! Anyone would think we didn’t have a Savior.

As I tried to pray just now, this came into my mind–Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Yeah, I know it isn’t Christmas anymore. But then it’s always Christmas, if Jesus Christ is born to us, in our hearts, every day. Read the lyrics: don’t they apply to all 365 days of the year?

“Oh, what’s that poor fool doing, trotting out a Christmas carol in March?”

Well, I think we need it! I know I do.

Sung by the Yoder Family. I say, Amen.

‘Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning’

I don’t know who’s singing this, or where; but it’s a lesson that we need to hear: Christ is Savior, Christ is king, and he will triumph over all the evils and insanities of this fallen world–Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning.

Hear us when we cry to thee, O Lord!

Bonus Hymn, ‘The Light of the World Is Jesus’

Requested by Erlene, The Light of the World Is Jesus, performed by TheNCrew.

All those beauty spots in the background, the work of God’s hands, are to be found in the Lake District, in England.

By Request, ‘To the Cross I Cling’

Do you want to feel down, really? Contemplate your sins. Do you want healing? Contemplate forgiveness for every one of them, won for us by Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Requested by SlimJim, To the Cross I Cling, sung by Matt Boswell.
