An Extra Newswithviews Column, May 25 (‘Where’s the Peacemaker?’)

Due to some confusion on my part, I have an extra Newswithviews column this week: they want me to write another one for tomorrow, my usual publication day. Ah, well, it’s nice to be wanted.

Here we ask again: who can broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine? Boy howdy, who could that be?

Where’s the Peacemaker?

We might also ask, do the world’s big shots even want peace? Their great goal is not peace. Their dream is global government, owned and operated by themselves at our expense. Do they mind chaos and destruction? Not if it brings them closer to that global government. Like their mentor Stalin said, gotta break eggs to make an omelet.

We need Donald Trump back in office.

Are We Sure About This War?

Fighting escalates in eastern Ukraine | Financial Times

Russia has invaded Ukraine, the violence of this war is incalculable–and our whole government is cheering for Ukraine. But what if the Ukrainians aren’t the good guys? What if there are no good guys in this war?

Up until recently, and over a span of years, did we ever hear anything about Ukraine that wasn’t tied into some scandal or other? What about all those multi-million-dollar deals with Hunter Biden, complete with a `10 percent cut for “the Big Guy” who is now, allegedly, our president?

Sure, Vladimir Putin and the Russkies are the bad guys. But does that automatically make Ukraine the good guy? I find myself unable to come to that conclusion.

Meanwhile, as it preaches the sanctity of Ukraine’s national borders, our government refuses to enforce our own country’s southern border. What does that say about our priorities? Shouldn’t we be repairing our own ruptured border?

The American people don’t want to blunder into war in Europe. Can we trust our leaders not to do that?

I wish I knew.

When You Buy Your Equipment from China…

(Thanks to Susan for the nooze tip)

All over the Internet today we find reports of Russian military convoys, invading Ukraine, either stopping short of their objectives for no apparent reason, or else bogged down and advancing much more slowly than expected.

Then we learn Russia bought its truck tires from China.

Now, a quick lesson in the legacy of Mao Tse-tung:

*You are accountable to people who can and will hurt you; so you tell them what they want to hear.

*Your bosses have bosses who can and will hurt them; so they tell them what they want to hear. It certainly doesn’t have to be true! Much safer for everyone if it isn’t.

This ritual of deception proceeds all the way up the ladder to the top commies. This is how you wind up with military truck tires that go flat whenever any weight is put on them.

The subjugation of Ukraine was supposed to be a walkover for the mighty Russian army. Well, they’re walkin’, all right. And they’re out the money, too.
