‘Yield Not to Temptation’

A classic 19th century hymn by Horatio Palmer, Yield Not to Temptation–and this video comes from the Garden State Baptist Church, just a few miles down the road from me, in Old Bridge.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

You’ll pardon me, I hope, if I plug in one of my favorite hymns now and then. This one was in my mind for most of yesterday, Yield Not to Temptation, a 19th-century classic by Horatio Palmer, sung here by Nathan and Lyle.

I don’t have many of Your Favorite Hymns left in the cart, so if you have one to share with us, step right up.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

We haven’t posted this in a while: an old Sunday school favorite since 1868, Yield Not to Temptation, performed by Nathan and Lyle. We never would’ve thought of adding a mandolin.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

Several times, yesterday, I caught myself whistling this hymn–another old Sunday school favorite. I took that to mean I ought to post it, so here it is. This is my favorite rendition of it, with Nathan and Lyle on mandolin and guitar–Yield Not to Temptation, first published in 1868.

It’s been a while since I posted this old Sunday school favorite, Yield Not to Temptation, sung by Nathan and Lyle. This sure brings back memories! Sometimes the old 19th century hymns are the best.

Sunday School Favorite: ‘Yield Not to Temptation’

I wonder how many times we sang this hymn in Sunday school. I don’t know why, but every hymn I hear today moves me practically to tears. I think I’m responding to God’s goodness, of which we all stand so much in need. So here it is–Yield Not to Temptation, Nathan on the mandolin, Lyle on guitar.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

An old Sunday school favorite, Yield Not to Temptation–written by Horatio Palmer in 1868, performed here by the choir and congregation at The Church of God. It’s their usual high-spirited rendition.

‘Yield Not to Temptation’

This hymn, Yield Not to Temptation, was always a Sunday school standby. Nathan on the Mandolin, Lyle on guitar–from Denton County, Texas. And if you’ve got a guitar handy, they give you the chords so you can strum along.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
