It Isn’t Nice to Scare Your Mama

I won’t tell you some of the tricks I used to play on my mother. But here’s a kitten who’s decided it would be fun to give his mommycat a good scare. Who says cats don’t have a sense of humor? We will also see rough justice tempered with love. Just another day in the life of a cat family.

The Joys of a Sand Bath

Have you ever tried this–a nice sand bath? What–you’re not a hamster? I guess if you were, you wouldn’t be reading this. Anyway, see these hamsters go to town on a sand bath. Admit it–you really want to try it out yourself. They say Burt Lancaster used to take a sand bath five times a week… and he was famous.

Memory Lane: Candid Camera

We need a sanity break, we need a laugh–and here’s one, courtesy of Allen Funt and Candid Camera, from somewhere in the 1960s. Watch how these bowlers react when the pins start behaving oddly. Who didn’t love this show!

‘Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning’

This is the news we want to hear, this is the news that’s true: Jesus Christ the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, shall reign forever over all the earth. This is Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning, sung by St. Polycarp’s Parish Choir in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Sanity Break! Lovey Cats

Wanna be happy? Wanna be sane? Let your cat love you. It’s one of those things God thought of, when He was creating the world, that we never would’ve thought of.

Holy Moley! Is that a bobcat loving the dickens out of that little boy? I do believe it is. There’s got to be a story behind that, don’t you think?

‘I Can Sing About Heaven’

Suggested by Susan: I Can Sing About Heaven, by A Few Good Men Music Ministry, from South Africa. The harmony is beautiful, and so is the message.

Kitty Karpet Kapers

One thing we can all agree on–cats are fun. Don’t you wish we knew how to have this much fun with a plain old carpet? I guess we’d get tired of straightening it out a hundred times a day, but cats don’t care about that. You should see what they do to the throw rugs in my bedroom.

Sunday School Favorite: ‘Draw Me Nearer’

It’s said Fanny Crosby wrote this hymn off the top of her head, all at once, while visiting with the composer–who just happened to have the tune handy.

Anyway, this is the hymn that was in my head this morning, and I hope you like the video. God’s handiwork never fails to move me. Draw Me Nearer, with video by the Rosehill Church.

Unpredictable Cats

Aren’t you glad your cat doesn’t do the ol’ use-up-all-the-toilet-paper trick? To say nothing of hunkering down inside the bowl. Or jumping up on top of your head after you’ve washed your hair.

You just never know what your cat is going to do next.

Again, ‘Light of the World’

The only excuse I have for posting this hymn again is that I love it, and it deeply moves me–Light of the World by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. Like so many of Wesley’s hymns, it’s a prayer set to music. And it tells us, “God is nigh.”
