Quiet Day

Not much in the shape of news today.

Did finally set up a visit from a telephone tech.  I have had incredible static on my phone for awhile.  I just hope I don’t have the Macy-Gimbel conflict because I lease my phone (yes a wall phone/landline) from AT&T.  There has been a problem (I think it is because the wires are not properly arranged in the back) ever since I got it a few months ago.  The static is so loud sometimes I can’t hear what is being said.

I also had to have some harsh words with Walgreen’s today.  They first send me an e mail saying they don’t have my RX, then they say I can pick it up on Thursday–not acceptable.  Bottom line I can pick it up tomorrow.  This happens just about every month.  I get the feeling they don’t quite know what they are doing.

Later this week I have a medical appointment.

That’s about it for today.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

OK, But Not as Good as Yesterday

Today was another beautiful day weather-wise.  But the thing that mystifies me is I can’t seem to get two really good days in a row.  Yesterday I had all kinds of energy.  Today I was so tired that I fell asleep in front of the computer.  That’s pretty goofy.  I’ve been known to do that, but usually on a gray and gloomy day.  No excuse for it today.

Guess I’ll have to build up to leading a normal life one day at a time.

I am really looking forward to reading Mark Rushdoony’s biography of his father.  I had watched a talk Mark gave a few years ago about his father and it was fascinating.  I should have the material in a few days and I can’t wait to get started.

Aside from fatigue, all is well.

God bless everybody.,

What a Good Day

Today was sunny and bright and relatively warm.  In the low 40’s which feels warm after what we’ve been used to.

Today I got out to the post office and mailed off Lee’s manuscript.  They should get it by Monday.

Had a really wonderful conversation with the clerk.  She is a gem, and very helpful.  She carefully wrapped the manuscript, boxed it  and said it should get there by Monday.  I was the only one there, so we had a really great conversation–about everything from Lee’s books to home schooling.  I can’t tell you how good it felt to be out and about having a real interaction with a real person.  She took down Lee’s name and said she would look up Bell Mountain on Amazon.  She thinks her daughter might be interested in it.

Also did a bit of walking, which was possible now that the sidewalks are all clear.

It might not sound like much, but after this last few weeks of solitary confinement it was great.

I was not happy to find out that daylight saving time starts this weekend.  I find that hour’s adjustment difficult and I always have.  Losing an hour knocks my schedule off for weeks.

Well, that’s it for now.

God bless everybody.

Can’t Believe February is Almost Over

Like the title says, that’s how I feel.

It is said that as you grow older, time goes faster.  Boy, is that ever true.

I finally wised up and started mailing my rent check.  Conditions are just too iffy to count on making it downtown, so that way it is always there on time.

Lee and I would often joke about his Aunt Gertie, because it seemed like she could only do one thing per day.  If she had something to do at two in the afternoon, she’d prepare for it at nine in the morning.  Sorry Gertie,  I know just how you felt.  That seems to be my limit now, too.

Tomorrow I have to mail Lee’s final manuscript.

I didn’t get a chance to tell you that yesterday when I was getting the manuscript together I found the first six chapters of the final book typed and edited.  Lee was right.  He had said he had done that.  It will be a great help in deciphering the hand written one.  Sort of a Rosetta Stone.  There at least is enough there to figure out names, places, etc.

That was a great find.

So, my one big task tomorrow is to get the book to the Post Office.

Anything else will be a bonus.

God bless everybody.

Good Neighbors Are a Real Blessing

I didn’t post as much as usual today, as getting my car out of the snow was top priority.

My one neighbor, Josh, had done much of the clearing and shoveling work.  When I went out to look,  I saw that in order to get out of the parking space, more snow had to be shoveled away. I had to get in on the passenger side, slide over the gear shift and console and get to the driver’s side to start the car to get the heater running. (Sometimes being extremely small is an advantage.) My other neighbor, Sue was out there and she pitched right in and shoveled more away and I got out.

It took quite a bit of time, then I was able to get to the store.  Where the snow was not shoveled, it was almost knee high on me.  I really can’t tell you how sick and tired of snow I am.

I hope we have seen the last of it.

Things could be worse, though–I could be without neighbors like Josh and Sue.

I will be going to the post office tomorrow to send off Lee’s manuscript.

Then it should be business as usual.

God bless everybody

I Found Something I Was Looking For

Really good news.  I had been looking in vain for the last book in Lee’s series.  He did finish it, but it is in longhand, on yellow pads.  He always wrote his books in longhand as he felt the computer was too quick for the pace at which he liked to write.  I finally found the first chapters in typed form.  That will give the editor a reference to help decipher Lee’s handwriting.  He worked very hard to finish the book–there are only two remaining and this completes the set.  Chalcedon has the other one in manuscript typed and proofed.

I can’t tell you what a blessing it was to find that.

Aside from that good news, my car is still up to its hubcaps in snow.  I won’t be getting out of that parking spot for awhile.  Again.  We just dug out of all that snow a few days ago.

Hopefully, it will warm up fairly quickly (laughs maniacally).

Now for supper and some TV.

God bless everybody.

Today

Today I spent a great deal of time just following the progress of the storm.  It looks like we got about 18-20 inches here in town.

People are really sick of winter around here.  Not a typical New Jersey winter.

I am hoping for a major melt, which should be happening in the next few days.  They have gotten the streets pretty clear, but my poor car in in Siberia right now.

I am going to make my supper now and watch something on YouTube.

God bless everybody.

What’s happening–an update.

I posted a live link a little while ago to show live coverage of the weather here on the east coast.  He is now mostly covering New England.  The Jersey coverage was earlier.  There is a ton of snow here.  In the more southern counties, i.e. Burlington they have a lot of power outages.

It has gotten to the point in Burlington that emergency vehicles can’t get to the people that are calling for them.  I pray for those folks.

One observer had said that after hurricane Sandy, they really rebuilt almost all of New Jersey’s power grid.  Let’s hope that is true.

That’s it for now.  I hope the link works and I will keep you posted, plus do the usual content for the day as long as the power lasts.

Hope this link will last live coverage of nj blizzard

Not much today, other than the weather.

Mostly today I kept checking up on the weather.  New Jersey is right in the crosshairs.

My biggest concern is a power failure.

The ants seem to be making a comeback–since I changed the traps.

Am knocking off early today and will find something to watch other than weather updates.

God bless everybody.
