Corruption Probe Forces Australian Premier to Resign

Has her hand been in the cookie jar?

Australia is having a very bad time of it, lately. And it’s not just the country’s COVID panic, either.

The premier of the state of New South Wales, Gladys Berajiklian, has announced her resignation in response to a corruption probe that seems to be zeroing in on her and other government officials (https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/australian-state-corruption-watchdog-says-is-investigating-nsw-premier-2021-10-01/). This is the premier of the state who ordered its people to stop talking to one another.

This probe has been going on for years. Another New South Wales premier was forced to resign in 2014, charged with receiving as a “gift” a $3,000 bottle of wine. Other officials have been charged with receiving cash gifts in return for helping Chinese nationals to acquire fraudulent visas.

It’s complicated.

Don’t you love it when the people who presume to order you around and lock you down are themselves guilty of all sorts of mischief–for which they are lavishly rewarded?

Berajiklian, who has been premier of NSW since 2017, insists she’s as clean as Ivory Soap. Maybe someday we’ll know, one way or another.

Meanwhile, we have this “Great Reset” by crooks and scalawags who want to rule us–all for our own good, of course.

Feh! Well, here in America we have our own Big Guy to rob us blind.

Australia Prime Minister Admits Their ‘COVID Zero’ Policy Can’t Work

Australia’s draconian anti-COVID measures, aimed at a goal of “COVID zero,” have failed, says the country’s prime minister, Scott Morrison (https://www.foxnews.com/world/australia-end-covid-policy-not-sustainable). The continual lockdowns and fear-mongering “is not a sustainable way to live in this country,” he said.

Ya think?

With a survivability rate of over 99% for persons whose health has not already been compromised by some other disease or medical condition, COVID-19 has inspired Australia’s “leaders” to put the country through an endless cycle of lockdowns. A single “case,” whatever a case is, touches off a lockdown–or, in the words of the government euphemism, “a circuit-breaker.” It’s supposed to cut off COVID before it starts rolling.

Morrison said “most” of the restrictions will be lifted as soon as 80% of Australia’s population is “vaccinated.” So far it’s only 27%–even with all the threats, punishments, and inducements.

Meanwhile, civil discontent has been piling higher and higher and higher. Australians, for the sake of a failed policy that was never going to be successful in the first place, have endured more than they ever expected.

(“Blimey, mate, we’re sorry we put you through all that! A cryin’ shame, eh?”)

To claim damages from the government, hold your breath and count to a million.

Will the people be content to wait for 80% to be vaccinated before returning to life as normal human beings?

Australia: More COVID Madness

Australia, it seems, has stopped being a free country.

The government of New South Wales has announced it will permit one additional hour of outdoor recreation (that would bring the total to two hours) “as long as all adults in the household are fully vaccinated” (https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2021/08/26/covid-madness-down-under-new-south-wales-sydney-will-permit-one-hour-of-outdoor-recreation-time-for-vaccinated-persons-while-queensland-brisbane-builds-quarantine-camp/).

“Singles bubbles” will still be required. But if you do live alone, you’ll be allowed to “nominate” one family member, or friend, to visit you.

Is this living?

And in Queensland, the government has announced plans to set up a quarantine camp with a 1,000-bed capacity for “involuntary quarantine” for persons who have tested positive for COVID.

What are they shooting for? A disease-free environment? That’s not possible. “Zero COVID”? That’s not possible, either. A lifestyle, in the words of one commenter, “where you live from shot to shot?”

When do people get their freedom back? When does the “all clear” whistle sound? It’s beginning to look like “never.”
