Bible study without a Bible. It makes me think of Michelle Obama’s “smores” without chocolate or marshmallow.
The church I was brought up in, I don’t go to anymore. Not since the new pastor said adultery was “no big deal” and warned me against taking the Bible too seriously. Then they put up a sign urging the erasure of all our country’s immigration laws.
I’m sure this character “studied the Bible” in seminary–whatever “studied” means, out there in dindle-land.
Where do they get these fly-by-night “pastors”? I can’t even imagine what they’re teaching in the seminaries these days.
This one likes to melt down purity rings. She thinks purity is a bad thing. Someone handed her a certificate that says that she’s a pastor. Whoever did that ought to be whipped around the block.
I shoulda known, all those years ago now, when “Reverend Jill,” the new pastor of the church that I was raised in, warned me to beware of Bibliolatry–the error of taking the Bible seriously. She also thought it was nice when couples committing adultery together found time to go to church. “Welcoming and affirming”
When the new ministerette at the church I don’t go to anymore told me that adultery was “no big deal,” because the real thing Christians have to watch out for is “Bibliolatry”–the folly of taking the Bible seriously–it left me speechless.
Well, here are some Christians who won’t be falling into that trap anytime soon…
