Pets at Peace

This is astounding: the big scary pit bull cuddling the guinea pig and exchanging sniffs and kisses with the tiny baby rabbit, while the cat presides like a doting grandparent. How are animals able to learn to do this? And why can’t we?

I am pretty sure that Heaven looks like this.

Pets Are Good for Babies

So many cats and dogs are so good with babies, you’d think anyone who had a baby would rush right out and get a pet. I wish my parents had.

Although the one pug dog, regardless of the delight expressed by the baby, does make me wonder what he intends to do with the child. I hope he doesn’t have a den somewhere…

They Don’t Just Steal Your Heart

In fact, your pets’ll steal just about anything–especially if they think they can eat it. Here it’s mostly dogs and cats, but also a monitor lizard with a yen for socks–I don’t get that at all–and a greedy frog who wants the greens that the lizard’s eating: and that’s a new one on me, ’cause there’s no such thing as a herbivorous frog.

Cats in Need of Attitude Adjustment

We go through this every mealtime: two cats, two food dishes containing exactly the same thing in exactly the same amount–and do you think each cat is content to eat from her own dish? Away wi’ ye!

Anyway, there is something in us that causes us to experience a weird kind of enjoyment as we watch cats persecute dogs and humans with impunity.

Pets of the Week

Enough with the crummy news already–let’s relax with our pets.

That business with the hedgehog reminds me of when I discovered, as a kid, that if I rubbed my pet lizards’ bellies, with would put them into something like a hypnotic trance. I’ll bet the same thing happened with that hedgehog.

Kooky Cats & Dogs & Birds

When animals indulge in kooky behavior, it’s a sign of intelligence. When people do it, it’s just a sign of kookiness. Go figure.

The World’s Most Patient Dog

You’re supposed to let sleeping dogs lie, right? Only here’s a cat who never heard that truism. He has an altogether different take on the matter of a sleeping dog. But maybe he already knows this dog will never hurt him. A little peek into Paradise…

The Joy of Silliness (per Dogs & Cats)

Here are some dogs and cats without a shred of self-importance. Refreshing, isn’t it? As an added bonus, we also have a hedgehog in a sink, a bush baby in a purse, and a goat in a shopping cart. Let them entertain you.

Pattycake–with Cats & Dogs

I’m impressed by how gentle these cats and dogs can be with birds and really small animals–even a tree frog. Although I’ve always found it easy to get along with tree frogs. Look at the soft paws. It’s another little peek into paradise to come.

Is This How Venezuela Ran Out of Toilet Paper? (Cats & Dogs)

I am so happy none of my cats ever did this! And somehow the idea of chomping down on a mittful of toilet paper gives me a distinctly unpleasant feeling. Apparently cats and dogs like it–like it a lot.

And then there are the yogis who just stand around filming them as they do it…
