Another Sleazy Book I Won’t Review

All week long I’m peppered by publicists with invitations to review their clients’ latest books. And some of them–oy, have they got a wrong number!

This week’s offer is a novel about polygamy, touted as “Fifty Shades of Grey for men.” In case you missed it, that aforementioned book was a celebration of sadomasochism. I don’t propose to give the title or the name of the author of this current book–no free publicity for you, sunshine. Besides, it’s only one example plucked out of a multitude.

The publicist enthused about “the protagonist’s quest for the holy grail of sexual fulfillment”–translation: fornication with a lot of different women whenever he pleases–and  called it “an enchanting tale of personal development and fulfillment.” They’re big on fulfillment. I think it means gratification of lust.

Does this sound like narcissistic self-worship to you? Sure does to me.

Why do I even mention it?

Because “entertainment” in all its forms, including dirty novels, is self-education, with the popular culture as the classroom. And nothing we can accomplish in politics or economics will be of any use to us as long as we continue to let our culture disintegrate into pure moral imbecility. A degenerate people will not produce decent leaders or decent public policy.

Kill the culture, and the culture will kill you back.

They Keep Killing the Culture

My Bible-reading today took me to Leviticus 18, one of the grimmest chapters in the Bible: “After the doings of the land of Egypt… shall ye not do, and after the doings of the land of Canaan… shall ye not do…” (v. 3). Those “doings” refer to a wide variety of sexual sins–I need hardly to list them here–and the practice of offering up children as human sacrifices to false gods.

We in today’s Western world, which once was known as Christendom–we do all these things, and have invented additional perversions which never occurred to our ancestors.

I put it this way: Kill the culture, and the culture will kill you back.

F’rinstance: now being released, Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey ( https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/2780949/we-take-a-first-glimpse-at-fifty-shades-darker-which-is-far-kinkier-than-the-original-and-almost-pornographic-at-times/ ). “The Sun” (UK) has given it one star for quality and five for sexual content. It is, they say, “far kinkier than the original” movie devoted to a particularly incomprehensible perversion.

Now, there is a fair to excellent chance that this movie might bomb at the box office–but no one makes a movie to lose $100 million on purpose. No, this is Hollywood, doing its thing–its own campaign to fundamentally transform America and every other civilized country.

You cannot maintain a republic, a free country designed for sane and responsible adults, with a population stripped of God and family and devoted to heaping up sin as high as it will go. No amount of electoral victories can save us from the consequences of this, if we keep on doing it. People have to have strong families, orderly lives, and decency if they are also to have prosperity and liberty. A nation cannot separate itself from God and hope to thrive.

Again I pray: O Lord our God, please remember, when you judge this nation, that these things are done without our consent, against our will, and over our objections.

The Deranged Liberal Quote of the Week

We had to reach all the way across the Atlantic to find this one. But first, the context.

Someone has invented an “app” that filters out filthy language and replaces foul words with cleaner substitutes. It’s intended for use by parents who don’t want their kids drowned in f-bombs every time they read an e-book or play a video game ( http://godfatherpolitics.com/21330/liberals-outraged-clean-reader-app-cleans-objectionable-language/ ).

Here is the objection, word for word (as reported by the U.K. Telegraph), from a British novelist I never heard of:

“Well, we’ve been down this road before. We should know where it leads by now. It starts with blanking out a few words. It goes on to drape table legs and stick fig leaves onto statues. It progresses to denouncing gay or Jewish artists as ‘degenerate.’ It ends with burning libraries and erasing whole civilizations from history.”

Wow. I guess we should be grateful to Fifty Shades of Grey and the Porn Channel for keeping our civilization going. Who knew the work of graffiti artists was so important? Do you know, I’ll bet that’s exactly what happened to the Indus Valley civilization–they bleeped out an f-bomb, and the next thing…pfft! Gone!

And this from the people on the Loving Left who want to sue you and destroy your livelihood, and sentence you to sensitivity training, every time you speak a single word that they don’t like! This from the cockroaches who set up campus speech codes and “human rights” commissions to flatten anyone who might diverge from their notion of diversity–which is lib-speak for uniformity. This from the little tinpot fascists of the Clinton campaign who tell you in advance what words you will not be allowed to use when discussing their idol’s presidential aspirations.

I wish we could filter them out.
