I love to hear Nat King Cole sing Christmas carols.
Requested by Erlene, The First Noel, by Nat King Cole (and if you had some other hymn in mind, the error is my fault–but how wrong can we go with this?).

I’m rattled, I need to calm down. We have a phone outage (can’t make long-distance calls), it’s raining again, I’ve got blog problems that I can’t solve (don’t ask!), the laundry service doubled its fee… eeyah!
So I’m posting a hymn requested by Phoebe, The First Noel, sung by Nat King Cole–
Ah, yes… that’s better.
Another Christmas hymn request for our Christmas Carol Contest–now we’re getting somewhere!–from Ina, our friend in Glasgow, Scotland: The First Noel, sung by Sir Harry Secombe with the Choir of Westminster Abbey.
There are so many beautiful performances of The First Noel (Nat King Cole springs immediately to mind), but for today I chose the one by the choir at Kings College, Cambridge. I meant to surprise Erlene with it yesterday, but wasn’t able to get around to it.
I guess we’re open for Christmas carols now! And on Friday we’ll open our annual Christmas Carol Contest.
Here are our own friends and esteemed colleagues, Joshua and Jeremy, with an instrumental performance of The First Noel. Hey, guys–bring your guitars to the cyber-Christmas party!
Whew! I need to calm down! Well, if Nat King Cole can’t calm you down, who can?
Requested by Erlene, The First Noel–and duly entered into our Christmas Carol Contest.
So far most readers are sitting back and letting Erlene and Phoebe do all the work. It’d be nice if, say, 100 different readers submitted carol entries.
Byron the Quokka says I need to offer ritzier prizes. But aw, come on! Christmas carols are prizes in and of themselves!
Phoebe requested this, The First Noel, so I picked this rendition by the King’s College Choir, at Cambridge.
As for the carol contest, the leading carol has 44 views; that was 12 days ago, and no one’s come close since.
Only four days left till Christmas!
I seem to be posting a lot of Nat King Cole, this Christmas season–but who’s complaining?
Requested by TheWhiteRabbit, The First Noel. Sung by Nat King Cole.
Reminder to Christmas Carol Contest entrants–you can request any Christmas hymn you want, even if it’s been posted before. Let’s get into the spirit!
Our friend SlimJim has requested it here, and my friend Jessicafischerqueen has posted it on my chess page, so what can I say but here it is? The First Noel, sung by Bing Crosby. You’ll look long and hard to find an equal to his voice.
Peaceful, mellow… The First Noel, played on the guitar by Nanae Fujiwara. For me it evokes the spirit of a still and snowy Christmas Eve. Relax and let it flow.
