We sang this a lot in Sunday school, and my mother used to hum it as she went about her housework. O good and beautiful normal times! How I miss them.

Here’s a beautiful rendition by Audrey Assad of one of our oldest hymns, Be Thou My Vision. It was first sung in Ireland in the early 700s… before Charlemagne learned to walk.

Horatio Spafford wrote these lyrics after losing his wealth in the Chicago Fire and losing his children at sea. His point was: his soul is kept secure by Jesus Christ; and in that he can trust.
