‘Behold the Mountain of the Lord…’

Every villain on the planet is working overtime to drag us into Hell–they think they’re working for (WOL) “progress.” Monitoring the nooze is grisly work.

This hymn does me good, this ancient Scottish hymn: Behold, the Mountain of the Lord, sung by Godfrey Birtill. I think I’ll play it again.

‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo’

Hardly anybody here today, and no hymn requests…

Usually I save this hymn for Christmastime, but it ought to be good for any time–Gloria in Excelsis Deo, sung by the Libera boys’ choir. Why not?

‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

I never heard this hymn sung to this melody before; I would never have recognized it. But that happens with classic hymns.

I Sing the Mighty Power of God, performed by students from Fountainview Academy on their tour of Hawaii.

‘Amazing Grace’ (Fountainview Academy)

First hymn I spotted this morning–and how could I do better? Amazing Grace, performed by students from Fountainview Academy–if this doesn’t move you, better check and make sure you’re still alive.

The hymn shop is open for requests all day, all night…

Welsh Hymn: ‘A Pure Heart’

“Calon Lan” in Welsh means “A Pure Heart.” Written in the 1890s as a hymn, the melody has become ingrained in Welsh popular culture. There’s a set of lyrics about going to Heaven and finding everyone and everything you’d loved and lost on earth: moved me to tears and stayed with me all night, last night. It has also spawned a kind of anthem for the Welsh national football team.

But we are putting it up here as a hymn, sung by the Dunvant Male Choir at Mynyddbach Chapel, in Wales.

‘Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning’

The music for this hymns, Christ Triumphant, Ever Reigning, was composed in 1948; so it’s only a year older than me. I wish I could tell you who was singing it, but YouTube didn’t provide that information. We’ve got the lyrics, so you can sing it, too.

‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

No hymn requests today so far, so here’s one I’ve picked: I Sing the Mighty Power of God, written by Isaac Watts in 1715 and still going strung, sung here by the Mountain Anthems. Background sets by God the Father.

‘Jesus Saves’

No requests received this morning, so I’m on my own and this is the hymn I want to hear today–Jesus Saves, sung at Reformed Synod 2012, held at Nyack, New York, on the mighty Hudson River. I don’t know a hymn more beautiful than this.

‘Praise Ye the Lord the Almighty’

First hymn that came to mind today–Praise Ye the Lord the Almighty, sung by the choir at the Laodicean Church of God. How many times did we sing this in my old church, before it went all weird and wobbly on us?

‘He Leadeth Me’

The one computer is on strike again, the cat’s yowling, we’ve gotta see the doctor today… and so on, and so on… Just can’t get to first base.

So here’s a hymn, He Leadeth Me, by the Mennonite Hour Men’s Quartet… and I pray this other computer will actually allow me to post it.
