By now it’s become obvious to all but the looniest leftids that “Defund the Police” is an idea whose time has not come. So Democrats are trying to convince us that they never said it! They’re trying to shift this load of failure onto the Republicans. It’s not going to work, but at least they understand they’ve got to toss this clunker overboard and sail away from it as fast as they can.

This was hard for them, because, as leftids, they simply can’t admit that any of their ideas is hopelessly, disastrously wrong. If they could do that, they wouldn’t be liberals. Even as they try to walk away from “Defund the Police,” they’re battening down the hatches to defend Critical Race Theory–a Democrat project even more unpopular than defunding the police.

Sometimes the only thing you can do with failure is to walk away from it. You don’t double down on the Edsel–and CRT is an Edsel. (Note: If you’re too young to remember the Edsel, just think of it as “Windows 8.”) Practically everybody hates it. But because liberals can never be wrong, they will defend CRT. They will defend the indefensible.

What earthly good does it do to “teach” anyone that white people are born evil, everything they do is bad, no matter what they say or do, they’re racists–while black people are born without the sense God gave a pincushion, they can’t achieve a blessed thing without liberals handing it to them on a silver platter…

Can you imagine basing a whole culture on this crap? Everybody would be angry all the time! Or depressed. Who in his right mind wants to live that way?

But because it’s their pet project, the Far Left Crazy is doomed to defend it.

Let’s make this their Waterloo.

Only a Democrat would even fantasize that defunding the police would make for nicer cities. Pursuing this towering slab of idiocy, their cities exploded with crime. Who would’ve thought it?

No kidding–we could actually destroy our civilization by allowing these jidrools to hold and exercise power. We could actually do it.

But please let’s not.

Boston Councilwoman Crashes Car Into House

Sometimes representative government doesn’t look like what it’s cracked up to be.

A Boston city councilwoman, driving with a revoked license, no insurance, and an expired inspection sticker, with her 7-year-old child as a passenger without a child safety seat, crashed into a house a few days ago (https://nypost.com/2023/07/01/kendra-lara-crashes-car-into-house-with-son-inside/).

She was famous, or infamous, as Boston’s first elected socialist. She was also a leader in the city’s “defund the police” movement. Well, we can see why she’d want the police out of the picture.

She and her child survived the crash. The car was totaled and the house was seriously damaged.

She’s still on the council, helping to, um, govern the city.

“Please come to Boston,” says the song.

I think I’ll just stay put.

It could’ve been worse… right?

If this is what police wind up doing with their time, then maybe they should be defunded.

Across the Atlantic, in the UK, home of the Magna Carta, police “pushed into” a woman’s home to arrest her for singing in her back yard (https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/woman-arrested-for-singing-in-her-back-yard/). You’ve got to see the embedded video. There are at least four officers in body armor (!), and they give the woman–right there in her own living room!–the full treatment: forced face-down on the floor, handcuffed with her hands behind her back, frog-marched out the door while her kids wail and scream. I can’t give you the video up front: you’ve got to click the link and play it for yourself.

We would like to know more.

Who made a complaint against her? I’m presuming there’s enough sanity left in Britain that you can’t just call the cops on someone and say “My neighbor is singing in her yard, you gotta do something!” So what exactly was the complaint? How was it phrased?

Did the police get a warrant to enter this woman’s home? I’d like to see that warrant. What kind of judge issues a warrant against you for singing?

Do they wear body armor to every call? If so, what does that say about the state of British civilization?

Is there a price on the Statue of Liberty’s head?

The Democrat plan for America

Democrats have been yelling “Defund the police!” and making it perfectly clear that they prefer criminals to cops.

Now it seems the feeling’s mutual.

With the Democrat National Convention, in Milwaukee, about three weeks away, more than 100 law enforcement agencies have backed out of their agreements to provide security for the convention (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2020/07/28/why-more-than-100-law-enforcement-agencies-backed-out-of-the-democratic-national-n2573328). It seems they don’t want to put their lives on the line to guard a bunch of Far Left political botflies who hate them. Who woulda thought it?

“New policies” adopted by the city’s Democrat rulers, such as forbidding the use of pepper spray or tear gas to break up a violent riot, have made cops think twice about guarding the convention, said the Milwaukee police chief.

If they can’t use any kind of force to stop a violent mob, what’s left? How are they supposed to do their job?

So… never mind! Let the Dems provide their own security, if they can. They’re the ones who egg the riots on, who never speak against them, who tacitly support them. They’re the ones who think rioting is the way to conduct public affairs. And they think they control it.

Wait’ll they find out that they don’t.
