By Request, ‘Trust and Obey’

Sorry I’m late with this hymn contest entry–had to write Newswithviews today. But this is a sweet hymn, an old Sunday school favorite, and I wouldn’t want to miss it.

Requested by Erlene–Trust and Obey, sung by Don Moen. Thank you, Erlene–this is awfully nice.

‘Dwelling in Beulah Land’

No hymn requests received, no hymn contest entries–so I guess I’m on my own this morning.

How about this one? Dwelling in Beulah Land, sung by Nathan and Lyle with some family and friends… at home. Where better to sing hymns, than at home?

The hymn contest ends Aug. 8, so get those entries in now.

By Request, ‘At the Lamb’s High Feast We Sing’

We have another hymn request from “thewhiterabbit”–yes, you can enter the hymn contest more than once a day–At the Lamb’s High Feast We Sing, performed by the Choir of Durham Cathedral.

I’m warned that posting all these hymns won’t re-invigorate my shrunken viewership numbers–but I go where I’m led and pray for the best. I have to return to writing a book this afternoon, and I have no idea how that will go, either. May the Holy Spirit direct our steps, yours and mine.

By Request, ‘Jesus, Keep Me Near Thy Cross’

Not only is this a beautiful hymn, beautifully performed–but how can we not rejoice when we see our Christian family growing in India, China, all throughout the world? The shepherd is calling His sheep; and they know His voice.

Requested by Phoebe–Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross, sung by the Voice of Eden… in southern India. Brothers and sisters to us all.

By Request, ‘What Is the World to Me?’

This hymn was hard to come by! The best I could do was printed lyrics, with the organ–at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.

Requested by “thewhiterabbit,” What Is the World to Me?

By Request, ‘Beautiful Savior’

Do you want to talk about COVID today, or praise God? Well, that was easy, wasn’t it?

Requested by Erlene, Beautiful Savior, sung by the Oasis Chorale; background sets by God the Father. Entered into our hymn contest.

Which anyone can do, by the way–just request a hymn.

‘All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name’

This is how we sang this hymn in the old Dutch Reformed Church, wherein I was raised–All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name. I don’t often get to hear it sung to this melody anymore, so I’m thankful to the choir at Temple Baptist Church for selecting it.

No hymn contest entries today yet…

By Request, ‘Hidden By the Cross’

An entry in our hymn contest: Requested by Erlene, Hidden by the Cross, by Carroll Roberson.

I would love to see some requests from readers who have never made any. What holds you back?

‘We Are Not Alone’

Just this morning I found this new Voice of Eden video–We Are Not Alone, a new composition by Pepper Choplin. So the choir assembles under the banyan tree and sings it.

Meanwhile, the hymn contest is still on, you could win an autographed book or an original T-shirt–and I can’t explain why the leading hymn has only 21 views. Anyone can enter, and so many of you have never requested a hymn–why be bashful?

By Request, ‘It Is Well with My Soul’

We haven’t heard this hymn in a while. Today it’s been requested by Erlene–It Is Well With My Soul, sung by the Isaacs.

The hymn contest closes Aug. 8… so where are you, everybody?
