By Request, ‘Feliz Navidad’

Requested by Erlene–Feliz Navidad, by Jose Feliciano. This is one of the carols we have playing as we put up our Christmas tree.

See how easy it is? Just ask for a Christmas carol, and we’ll do the rest.

By Request, ‘Majesty’

We have an entry from Erlene, too–Majesty, by Maranatha! Music.

Erlene was worried that this might not be a Christmas carol per se; but let’s not forget that the baby in the manger was  born to be the King of kings, our Savior.

‘Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence’

No carol contest entries, no hymn requests, to start the day. But we do have a brand-new video from our friends and esteemed colleagues, Joshua and Jeremy–Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.

And Patty has gotten my stats page to work again, so let’s build up some stats!

‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’

Nothing yet for our Christmas Carol Contest today, so I’m on my own.

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, by Johann Sebastian Bach–not per se a Christmas hymn, but this seems usually to be the time of year for it. Performed by the New London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski.

By Request, ‘The Millenium Prayer’

This ought to liven things up around here.

Requested by Susan: The Millenium Prayer, by Cliff Richard. You know and love the melody; here’s a set of new lyrics to go with it.

Any Christmas carol requests out there today?

By Request, ‘On Jordan’s Bank’

This is not a Christmas carol, but it is sort of an Advent hymn, so I’m letting it into the contest

Requested by Phoebe–On Jordan’s Bank, sung by the St. Edmondsbury Cathedral Choir.

By Request, ‘Wise Men Follow Him’

Ah! another entry in our carol contest.

Requested by Erlene: Wise Men Follow Him, by Carroll Roberson.

True, I haven’t yet described the prize in this contest. Simply imagine the most luxurious, desirable thing you can… and then tone it down a lot.

‘And Can It Be?’

Grey and dreary day: it made me oversleep, so I’m way behind on everything. Our Thanksgiving turkey turned out rather badly.

Anyway, a hymn! And Can It Be?, by Charles Wesley; sung the old-fashioned way by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

‘Come, Ye Thankful People, Come’

It awes me when I realize that every good thing that I have ever known has been the gift of God.

Another traditional Thanksgiving hymn–Come Ye Thankful People, Come , performed by the music group at Catshill Baptist Church.

For Thanksgiving: The Doxology

Sorry, late again. I’ll post traditional Thanksgiving hymns today, but for the time being I thought it good to start with this, The Doxology–a slightly expanded version sung by Heidi Nadine. Praise the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
