‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

No hymn requests today so far, so here’s one I’ve picked: I Sing the Mighty Power of God, written by Isaac Watts in 1715 and still going strung, sung here by the Mountain Anthems. Background sets by God the Father.

Bonus Hymn: ‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

All right, there’s a revival going, let’s get revived! We can’t all make it to Asbury University, Kentucky–but surely we can be there in spirit, and surely God’s grace can come to us wherever we are. Open the door to Jesus! He won’t care if you haven’t washed the breakfast dishes yet.

Sing hymns today, hum them, whistle them, whatever. Let’s get revived! And here’s a hymn to get you started, it got me started–I Sing the Mighty Power of God, 18th-century masterpiece by Isaac Watts, sung by the congregation at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California.

Rejoice in the righteousness of God!

Oysters, Anyone?

I’m not a foodie, but as the old hymn says, God “filled the world with food.” And one of those edible creatures that God pronounced “good!”… is oysters.

Here celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey visits an oyster farmer in Maine and is blown away by the quality of the product. The farmer has a perfect oyster pond, 17 acres, that produces 250 to 300 thousand oysters a year.

The Lord gives us what we need–and takes pleasure in our pleasure.

No hymn requests yet, so I’m on my own. Here’s one I taught myself to play on the harmonica–I Sing the Mighty Power of God… by Isaac Watts, way back in 1715 and still glorious today. Sung by the Mountain Anthems.

Bonus Hymn: ‘I Sing the Mighty Power of God’

I don’t know why this particular hymn is in my mind today, but it’s welcome and I want to share it: I sing the Mighty Power of God, written by Isaac Watts in 1715 and still glorious today, sung by the Mountain Anthems. The phrase that moves me most: “all that borrows life from thee.” We are only here because He is.

I know things are pretty freakin’ awful just now–but look to the heavens, look to the earth, and praise the Lord for His creation. God’s stuff still works, and always will.
