Saving Free Speech (If We Can)

The last time Europe tried to tell us what to do…

The United States seems to be the odd man out in a growing global campaign to stifle free speech and impose censorship wherever the sun shines.

“Overt government control of the Internet” is the only thing that’ll save our civilization [excuse me, where are the barf bags?], with the European Union, Australia, and Canada lined up to  silence anyone who might have Wrong Ideas.

Canada is trying to revive Justin Trudeau’s “Online Harms Act”–again, an overt campaign to shut people up and shut people down. Content that diverges from the current government theme song is condemned as “disinformation.” We used to call that “lying.”

And only a week ago it was the Fourth of July…

Well? Are we going to live up to our country’s founders, and its guiding principles, or let a bunch of pipsqueak globalists tell us what to do?

Meanwhile, pray.

If we ever needed the Spirit of ’76, we need it now!

Hey, out there? Are we ever again going to let Them do to us what they did in 2020? Because boy, howdy, if we do… well, we’ll deserve it this time.

Meanwhile Little Doc Fauci’s sitting fat and sassy atop that great big pile of money he made off the COVID scare–millions of dollars of it. So of course he’s going to think he’s our master. Our king!

The Last Free Country Left on Earth

The 'Spirit of '76' in PSJ

Is the United States of America the last free country left on earth? Sometime it seems so.

Have you ever wondered why we have a First Amendment, and other countries don’t? This important piece of our law, the Constitution, guarantees us (in order) freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom to assemble and petition the government for relief of our grievances. No other country has these guarantees.

Which doesn’t stop Democrats and other elements of Far Left Crazy from trying to take them away from us and either erase them altogether or else reserve these liberties to themselves alone. Hence a “Disinformation Governance Bureau,” “hate speech” rules, and all the rest. (Hint: It’s “fundamental transformation”!)

There are countries in the, ahem, “Free World” where I’d be silenced for the things I write. Tell me I’d be safe in Canada, the UK, or Australia. All of these countries had more freedom not that many years ago.

Our country’s founders had to have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. They hazarded their lives to win these freedoms, and so they could pass them on to their descendants. The leftids would replace these our natural rights with BS made-up pseudo-rights (unlimited abortion, LGBTQetc, transgender, illegal immigration, and on and on and on)–and above all, a supposed “right” to fornication.

There’s global government sniffing around, in search of vulnerabilities. Global government whose grand panjandrums think of most of us as “useless” or “worthless” people, fit only to be kept quiescent with drugs and video games.

We need our Spirit of ’76! Yes, we still need it after all these years; and always will.

When I was a boy, you saw this painting in a lot of different places: The Spirit of ’76. It celebrates the birth of our country. We, the American people, rebelled against the most powerful empire in the world–and won. We lost our share of battles, we knew our share of heartache, but we won.

Today our country is in danger. Wealthy, powerful enemies, unrestrained by anything even approaching morality, have attacked us from within. They have spent decades undermining our culture, taking control of our institutions and turning them against us, even turning our children against us, by teaching them, in the schools that we pay for, that America is a sick and evil country that needs to be “transformed.” By them.

We must not suck it up anymore. We must not tolerate it. We want our country back, and we must do whatever it takes to get it. We must not be governed anymore by thieves, liars, traitors, sell-out artists, and reprobates. We don’t want their Great Re-set. We don’t want them.

The Democrat Party is working to destroy America. It has stolen the 2020 presidential election. It has injured us, abused us, insulted us, and hated us more than King George and his Parliament ever dreamed of doing.

It’s time for this to stop. No more compromise, no more “reach across the aisle,” no more anything except a resolve to stamp out the Democrat Party once and for all.

Their arrogance, their boasting about their crime, their lofty words about all the things they’re going to do to us once they’ve settled into power–

They will re-awaken the Spirit of ’76… which has slept too long.
