Politics at Its Worst REPRINT

From February 25, 2016

Yesterday on my car radio I heard a clip from a Hillary Clinton speech:

“Those Republicans are going to do everything they can possibly do to keep you from voting, if you’re poor, if you’re black, if you’re Latino…” (Or words to precisely that effect: I’m going by memory.)

Hmm, which Republican candidate is in charge of suppressing the Latino vote–Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio? And of course Ben Carson is on hand to chase blacks away from the polling place.

This rhetoric is worse than ridiculous, worse than shameful.

It is a sin.

“Lemme see here… If I can raise up animosity where none need exist, if I can make groups of citizens fear other groups, and set people at each other’s throats who otherwise would be at peace… If I can make people fearful of things that are not, in fact, happening, and not going to happen… And then hold myself up to them as the only leader who can protect them from this imaginary conspiracy to deprive them of their right to vote… Oh, yeah, I can gain by this!”

Our Lord said, Blessed are the peacemakers.

What about those who purposely destroy the peace, for their own personal, political advantage? Who cause some to hate others without a cause?

Politics can be a pretty loathsome business; but once again, Hillary Clinton has shown that she is the lowest of the low.

We as a nation need our heads examined, allowing low characters like this to lord it over us. We really must be some kind of stupid.

Correction! I Was Wrong… REPRINT

From October 24, 2012

I was in error when I reported (see “Jesus for President, Eh?”) that Presbyterian theologian Tim Keller said he had signed up a million numbskulls to write in Jesus Christ for president.

The perpetrator of that folly was Bill Keller of the Live Prayer Church, which bills itself as “The World’s Online Church.”

Tim Keller is pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City. In all probability, he never noticed what I said about him. Nevertheless, I got him mixed up with someone else and I owe him an apology.

I also apologize to my readers for mis-reporting the matter. I don’t know how many times I looked at that email and read “tkeller” for “bkeller.”

I got it wrong, and I’m sorry.

Hymn of Heaven

I never heard this hymn before.  It is truly beautiful.

OK, But Not as Good as Yesterday

Today was another beautiful day weather-wise.  But the thing that mystifies me is I can’t seem to get two really good days in a row.  Yesterday I had all kinds of energy.  Today I was so tired that I fell asleep in front of the computer.  That’s pretty goofy.  I’ve been known to do that, but usually on a gray and gloomy day.  No excuse for it today.

Guess I’ll have to build up to leading a normal life one day at a time.

I am really looking forward to reading Mark Rushdoony’s biography of his father.  I had watched a talk Mark gave a few years ago about his father and it was fascinating.  I should have the material in a few days and I can’t wait to get started.

Aside from fatigue, all is well.

God bless everybody.,

Patty

As long as the U.S. bishops are going to get together tomorrow to discuss “Eucharistic coherence,” they might want to consider the Eucharistic incoherence being practiced at Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken, NJ (https://www.tapinto.net/towns/hoboken/sections/religions-and-spirituality/articles/catholic-church-to-hold-lgbtq-pride-mass).

For the fourth year in a row, this alleged church is going to hold a “pride mass” to celebrate sodomy. Take pride in something that God’s word calls a sin. For three years in a row the American bishops pretended such things weren’t happening. Ditto the goings-on at so-called “Catholic” colleges: they ignored those, too.

Please don’t take this post as Catholic-bashing. If there weren’t faithful Christians in the Church trying to hang on to truth and righteousness, there’d be no controversy, no debate. There are many Catholics who must feel like Lot in Sodom.

This is open, flagrant defiance of God’s law.

Remember us, O Lord, that we never gave consent to this.
