France Goes Full-Throttle for Censorship

Censorship Concept In French With A Mouth Closed With An Adhesive ...

How’s this for a deal? Get private companies, mostly American-owned, to act as unpaid thought police… for France! (https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/16057/france-free-speech)

France has a new law aimed at ridding the Internet of “hate speech.” The law makes search engines and social networks–again, mostly American-owned–responsible for removing any kind of “hate speech” that anyone in France posts on the Internet.

Private companies will have just 24 hours to delete “hateful” comments or video, and one hour to delete “terrorist content.” Failure to do so will be punished with extremely high fines.

So what is all this “hate speech”? It’s any speech “inciting or glorifying terrorism, hate, violence or racist or religious abuse.” The actual definition is, shall we say, murky.

So you’re French and you post something about, say, adultery being a sin–which of course it is–and some American company, say, Twitter, decides unilaterally that your comment is “hateful” and takes action against you. Can you appeal it? Lots of luck with that! And the fines are so high, private companies are going to have to develop quick trigger fingers–they won’t want to cough up 4% of their yearly earnings.

What if you say “Such-and-such is a false religion”? Richard Dawkins et al say that about Christianity every day. Will they be silenced? Dream on. What if you say “White people are to blame for everything that’s wrong, and they should be dealt with harshly”? American college professors say that every day. Will they be censored? Don’t hold your breath waiting for that.

But say a discouraging word about “transgender” wackos and see what happens. Only the Left’s Cherished Minorities actually get cherished. The rest of us are always fair game.

These American companies habitually censor conservatives while giving assorted leftids a total free pass. They won’t mind censoring French conservatives, too. And wherever “hate” gets morphed into “social justice,” there won’t be any censorship.

Despite their historical flirtation with “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” France has an awful lot to learn about free speech. They never have quite mastered it.

And now they’ve given up trying to.

Our Right to Hate

If you can set aside the boiling hypocrisy of the most hate-filled, angry people in the world railing against “hate”–what? You couldn’t set it aside? Oh, well, neither can I.

C.S. Lewis wisely observed that the robber takes what he wants and then goes away, you’re done with him; but the utopian busybody is never done with you.

So we have government busybodies and Big Tech busybodies and corporate busybodies whose main idea seems to be, “You don’t have God because there is no God, but you do have us!” They don’t understand what a lousy trade-off that is.

The point is: These prating schmendricks have no right to tell us what we ought to be; they have no right to tell us we can’t hate.

Hate is natural to us. It’s a part of us. A person without any capacity for hate would be emotionally incomplete. Not only do Far Left fumblers have no right to stop us from hating: it’s also impossible. That’s where the hypocrisy comes in. All they have to do, to understand that it’s impossible to get rid of hate, is look in the mirror. Hey! If you hated anyone as maniacally as the Loving Left hates Donald Trump, your family would urge you to seek help.

Watch these anti-haters go full-ballistic if you dare to say anything against “gay marriage,” transgender, Climbit Change, Obama, or any other of their multitude of sacred cows.

“Yeahbut, yeahbut, Jesus never hated!” (people who hate Christianity advising us how to be Christians)

Oh, yeah? Revelation 2: 20-23–

“[T]hou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death…”

We see from His words to John that Our Lord Jesus Christ hates fornication and idolatry, hates for them to be brought into His church, and if those who do it don’t stop doing it, and repent… He will destroy them.

The difference between Jesus and ourselves is that He hates what certain people do, and what they stand for, while we drift over into hating those persons themselves–forgetting that God will forgive them if they stop doing those things. God will wash them clean.

Well, we can’t do that. If we could, we wouldn’t have needed a Savior and God wouldn’t have sent us one. He knows our frailties.

Remember–many people have surely put “love” to improper uses, but nobody on NPR talks about abolishing love. There are those who’ve been destroyed by what they’ve made of love. But love is part of our humanity and cannot be removed.

If the busybodies could actually worm their way into our minds and scrub out all the thoughts and emotions that they think we shouldn’t have, they would surely do it.

But God, who could have done it if He pleased, has too much love and respect for us to take away our free will.

For that you need liberals.

Oh, Boy! No More ‘Hate’ in Cyberspace!

The cuddly commies at Google and Facebook are reportedly studying ways to ban “hate” and “extremism” from the Internet and social media ( http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/25/12029900/facebook-google-extremist-blocking ).

Ain’t that wonderful? And they don’t even have to tell you what constitutes hate or extremism.

Do you trust them to limit their definition to really bad guys plotting to blow people up? Might they not be tempted to outlaw all kinds of whatever they decide is hateful or extremist? Like the contents of this blog, for instance?

Again, the issue is religious. As Christians, we believe that the origin of evil lies within the human heart. But humanist wack-jobs think, “Oh, no, the human heart is basically good! It’s all that other stuff that needs to be re-engineered–our culture, our society, our social, political, and economic institutions. That’s where all the evil comes from! But not to worry–we can fix it. With Education and Science and plenty of camps for those who aren’t behind the program, blah-blah-blah…”

We can defend ourselves from this–but not if we allow Hillary Clinton to become our president.

Please think about that carefully, come voting time.
