Well, that’s that for our 2023 Christmas Carol Contest. I have won my own contest. Thanks to WordPress, the runner up is “Somebody,” anonymous.
I never thought third place would be important, so I don’t really know who came in third. If I can find some kind of enlightenment in my records, that reader will win the prize.
Byron was right: I should’ve offered a bicycle as the prize. Or something equally expensive. Live and learn.
Shout-out to Re-Farmer and Ina: your prizes are in the mail! Sorry it took so long, there was an awful lot of bother around here. But your autographed books are on their way.
So we’ve hit a blogging milestone, 100,000 comments. I wonder how long it’ll take to reach the next hundred thousand.
Now I’ve got to write a Newswithviews column, and a couple more blog posts; and I have to admit I’m pretty close to being tuckered out.

We have a winner of our once-in-a-lifetime 100,000-comment contest!
As the suspense mounted, “Re-Farmer,” in western Canada, posted No. 99,999–a very sweet number, don’t you think? And just two minutes later, Ina came in, from Scotland, with 100,000. I am elated. So much so, that I’ve decided to give prizes to both.
Winners, you have your choice: an autographed copy of my latest Bell Mountain book, Behold!, or a cool red T-shirt with the motto by yours truly, “If they have to kill us, they’ve lost.” All you have to do is provide me with your current mailing address. You can do that here; I’ll delete it after I copy it on paper.
And tomorrow we’ll launch our annual Christmas Carol Contest. I’ll post the rules tomorrow–we already have the first two entries.
