Is It Hubris… Or What?

You know I don’t like to do nooze on the weekends, but I have a question that just keeps nagging at me. Some of you may want to weigh in on it.

The mask of sanity has been torn off this alleged presidential administration. They aren’t trying anymore to act like the elected functionaries of a republic. They’ve turned the FBI into a goon squad. They’re in bed with the Chicoms. They’ve cut off much of our energy supply. Unionized “teachers” blatantly work to herd other people’s children into the wonderful world of Trans. They censor their critics. They act like they can do just anything they please and no one can stop them.

Here’s my question: Is this just plain hubris on a colossal scale… or do they know something that convinces them that there’s no way to rein them in? Have they found a fool-proof way to cheat their way through the midterm elections?

God help us if they have.

Democrats’ Hubris… Democrats’ Fall

Julius Caesar… after his hubris caught up to him

Hubris is the stuff of which Greek and Shakespearean tragedies are made. It is defined as “excessive pride or self-confidence… in Greek tragedy, excessive pride toward or defiance of the gods, leading to nemesis.”

And our Democrats are bursting with it.

With the outcome of the election still in doubt, Democrats are claiming that they’ve won, Doddering Joe is now our president, all you Republicans–even the squishy ones who never supported Trump in the first place–are gonna get it in the neck; and all they’ve done is lie and cheat to steal it. Preposterous vote totals are laughed off as computer glitches, move on, there’s nothing to see behind the curtain, blah-blah.

Seventy million of us voted to re-elect Donald Trump–but we are asked to believe that Biden won: on the basis of such absurdities as after-midnight dumps of several hundred thousand ballots, each and every one of them filled out for Biden. You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe that. To say nothing of the precincts where more Democrat votes were cast than there are residents. We’re not buying that one, either.

In tragedy the punishment for hubris is destruction.

May the true and living God, the judge of all the earth, smite them with perpetual defeat.

Senate Dems Threaten Supreme Court

Gee whiz, said the Democrat senators, there’s, like, too much politics in Supreme Court decisions! Dude, that’s gotta stop!

Ooh, ooh–we’ve got a brainstorm! Tell the justices that unless they stop being political and start handing down some rulings that we like, especially when it comes to the Second Amendment… we’ll freakin’ well pack the court! Yessiree, you Supremes better start listening to us politicians–and that’s how we’ll take the politics out of court decisions (https://www.breitbart.com/pre-viral/2019/08/13/democrats-threaten-supreme-court-reject-second-amendment-or-face-court-packing/).

The last time Democrats tried to pack the court was in the 1930s. After a number of key rulings went against him, President Franklin Roosevelt tried to add another half  dozen justices to the court so he could get the kind of decisions he wanted. He gave it up after the Republicans won a decisive victory in the 1938 Congressional elections.

Well, Democrats are liberals and liberals avoid learning any civics. The whole idea of “checks and balances,” “separation of powers,” saturates the Constitution: our founders, by providing for lifetime tenure for the justices, did their level best to render the Supreme Court immune to the political hot potato du jour.

Democrats love it when there’s a bunch of libs on the court and they can get aberrations like abortion and “gay” pseudo-marriage imposed upon the nation. But when the libs are in a minority and you get more conservative decisions, they scream bloody murder.

So the mask is off, and we have five Democrat senators overtly threatening the court with political punishments if the justices won’t do what these politicians want them to do.

If the United States somehow avoids being fundamentally transformed into a banana republic, it won’t be because Democrats didn’t try.
